My car got painted recently. It was painted in the winter and the paint guy says he doesn't wanna buff it till the spring, so that the paint can fully cure, as well as the primer. I said OK. After going over the car I found a small bit of drip in the paint on the left rear bumper.

Is this a big problem to fix?

I can post pics of need be. But it is barely noticable. I just want the paint guy to fix it. He is a super nice guy. Anyone think I am gonna have a problem? Thanks.

is it a stop of something on the paint or is it in the paint? there is a good chance it is in the clear so it will probably buff out. you should say something to the shop they may just fix it...

If it is just the clear then it can be fixed. Not a big deal at all. Try to take the best pic you can of it and post it.

He doesn't want to buff it till spring?????? 12-24 hours after it's painted it should be wet sanded and buffed!! The longer you wait the harder it will be. A good painter knows this. The only thing you wait that long on is WAX. Never wax a new paint job for at least 3 (three) months.

Verify if it has clear or if the paint is a single stage.

If the drip is pretty heavy, I use a razor blade to cut it down before sanding. I just use a new blade with the blade face pointed straight at the paint. I slowly and carefully drag it along the drip to bring the thickness down. I do this so that I don't have to sand as much of the paint in the surrounding area. I only recommend that if you have a very steady hand and know what you are doing. You CANNOT go through the paint, or you are in trouble.

I agree with what has been said. Your painter should have taken care of this before giving you the car back.

Hmmm wouldn't it be the painters job to fix that, since he mad it? Or better let it happen?

Its in the clear, I checked the car over after he painted it... it will wetsand out. They had both agreed to get the car wetsanded and buffed in the spring, since i think Denis is still doing work to it and wasnt sure if he wanted black headlight buckets or white... so no its not the painters fault

since it's in the clear coat, it's fixable

Tanks guys. Yeah, the car got dyno tunned and has a new mufflex exhaust on it now, so it can be taken back to the paint shop at any time now. I am going with the black headlight buckets and I will def point out the drip, I am very confident that the painter can fix it no sweat.

i had couple drip spot on my rear bumper on my car. They just color sanded and buffed it out. looks flawless

I would hafta agree the black buckets would flow better with your car. how did the car do on the dyno? any numbers? looks like a pretty stout motor combo

yeah, not too bad for the first dyno run of the life of the car, and my life, haha. I am pretty sure there are still some more horses in her. She put out 350 HP and 350 TQ at the wheels. I am happy with it for now. The thing is built for a lot of N20 anyways.

I am thinkin' about trying to get it up another 20 or so as my nest goal.

yeah, 350/350. Not bad and definetly scary for a newbie like me, haha. I still havn't been able to find any road around here to REALLy see what she can do. But 3 grand in 3rd gear is plenty scary for me, haha. I still hope to get the HP up to 400 someday, I will have to play around with it. Not that I need the power, it is just a goal I had from the start. I don't really see how a street car could ever use more. The spec stage 3 clutch and the LOUD exhaust make this thing a BEAST to drive around town as it is.
