Removing paint from interior plastic trim.

Well when I bought my 87 IROC back from the kid I sold it too he has painted the PERFECT shift plate with some color changine paint =/ I need to remove this crap so I can save my perfect shift plate. Can anyone please help me remove this without damageing the plastic? Thanks guys.

i used paint thiner to clean my plastic, it takes a while, but it will work..... if its an auto chift plate and has the automatic with overdrive embleme the letter will come off if you get paint thinner on them..

Yeah I kinda expected to lose the letters. He painted over them anyway. I was just afrayed the thinner would damage the plastic. Thanks for the help!

Paint thinner will eat the plastic. At least every paint thinner I've ever used on plastic.

Just kick his azz and ask him for $50 to cover the cost of another plate, you will never get all the paint off without destroying the plate
