spray color tint for glass

I know there has been spray can tint around for a while.
VHT has the nightshades for windows and tail lights.

I wonder if anyone ever tried that colored tint they sell in craft stores for glass? Kinda like stained glass but almost like a candy color paint or candy powder coating. Not trying to darken it allot just add a dlight colored tint.

Though depending on the color it will tint some.

Oh why? I hate real tint and if you just want a color, the colors are to ummmm flat I guess. Probably just from the thickness of the film.

Though I am gonna try it on spare glass first, I want that hint of color not that bold look of colored tint film.

any tips?

Re: spray color tint for glass

I would be worried about craft tints holding up to outdoor conditions.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Shouldn’t be any problem with fade, long as its meant for glass adhesion shouldn’t be a problem.

Scratches I dunno, dunno how strong the stuff is once cured.
Could always put some Walmart rattle can clear on it I guess, maybe.

Did my taillights with Walmart clear and 5+ years of looking good.
It some strong stuff once cured.

Re: spray color tint for glass

So far so good. First spray on some test glass was better then I expected.
Very easy to see through and nice light color. Gonna let it dry proper then put clear on one half, then torture test it.

I took some pics but batts needed charged bad so Im waitin on that.

they also got blue n red.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Good luck keeping it even. If you over lap sprays, the overlapped portion will be different, It'll be impossible to get a hint of color on glass like that.

You'll hafta post pics, from the inside, to see how it affects how the outside looks afterwards.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Well you really gotta see this stuff in person. The stuff alone does not look like paint or anything. Glass looks to be really tinted. Just a superb finish. When you add clear it then looks cheesy as you can tell something is on the glass.
Just ruins the looks. Can't do any durability test yet as to much humidity ain't curing very fast. pic 4 has some clear on it.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Stuff is $8 a can and is good indoor/outdoor dupont stuff. Lide for it looked almost orange but they got only 3 colors yeller, blue n red.

Yea it was a gamble but also was only $8 to test on some broken glass but am very very shock on how well it looks. Nice yellow tint like shootin glasses.

The clear is so obvious, it ruins the refraction of the glass where that glass paint does what it should. Looks like real tinted or stained glass.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Pics make it look...clear. I'd say "look good", but I'm not a fan of the colored window look. Too r i c e y for me.

I suppose, as long as YOU are happy, its YOUR car.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Why not just get colored tint? Not all of it is smoked or dark. There is colored tint available.

Re: spray color tint for glass

Ok...

But, from the pics I've seen, it doesn't look bad....if you like the colored tint look.

Re: spray color tint for glass

You sure thats real film tint? Looks to good.

Most film I have seen is more dark gold or broze and not that good shootin, sun or safety glasses yellow. Or its has that mirror/color effect like andoize.

Well its not paint its spray tint for glass. Probably why it works better then paint anddoesn't screw up the refraction qualities.
