Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
I only see two. If its three, its probably a radiator, oil cooler, and transmission cooler.
The only thing in the way would be the tube from the throttle body to the air box. Thats not near enough to make it unfunctional. Its just a little 3 inch tube.. the opening for the hood likes like its around 2 feet wide.
The air exits the hood on the engine side of the radiator, not the side the airfilters are on.

Oh... an oil cooler. THat didnt occur to me.
I'm assuming he has another radiator in the stock position, and then one in each fog light hole. 3 Radiators.
There appeared to be a radiator in the stock location, that's why I asked.

Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
i didnt meant that it wouldnt be wide enough but in order for it to function properly it would have to come down behind the radiator the "extract" heat and with the tube to the TPI there the hood cant dip down behind the radiator unless it has a relief molded into it for the tube and if so that might look a little strange

I am still waiting on that custom japanese hood. Were you all talking crap or did anyone actually stand behind what they said. I bet it was all bull ****.
No one actually had it made.

Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
I have a fiberglass version and a c/f version. they never went into production for obvious reasons of those who know anything about what happened to rex.

if someone were to mass produce them the fiberglass would be around $4-500 and the c/f double that aproximately. I have the molds if anyone knows a company that would be interested in doing it.
yes i would sell my ss hood, i had it for sale for some time but because of the work involved to make it perfect i had to ask as much as one costs new so many would rather buy their own and work them to fit.
fiberglass hoods are nice but do not fit perfect when they come..

Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
Every aftermarket place is catering to the Camaros....
Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
because they sell more... typically 4 times as much when it comes to the cars themselves for aftermarket parts. it's unfortunate but true and when it comes to thirdgens pontiac is very far behind unfortunately. never understood it but the thirdgen f-body in general just isn't a widely accepted vehicle let alone one for aftermarket upgrades visually.

If you really want to get it made you could always pitch it to the fiberglass hood makers. Like that one thats a site sponsor, or even harwood, cervinis, etc.
It looks like alot of people want the hood, so it could potentially be a nice moneymaker for any company.

Jeff,
PM me a price on the mold. A local buddy does glass/composit work. he ownes his own shop doing boat stuff and Old Hot Rod bodies. like 32 roadsters, 40-41 *****’s Coupe! etc. In fiberglass.
same guy I was gonna do these hoods with before but nobody wanted to step upto the plate wanting one for sure.

Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
chris i have only $1,200 into the mold of the hood and obviously it can be used to make whatever you want be it fiberglass or c/f. if i sell it i would sell it for the same as i've used it to make all i'm going to do and i could care less about making a profit off of it. the whole point was for rex to help mass produce it so that we could have it here in the states.

I'll play Duke Nukem Forever while listening to Chinese Democracy before this hood is ever produced. Which sucks, because I was in the market for a hood and ended up going with the Joengbloed hood.

Yes, says the one with 3.1 camaro. Rice? How it's functional unlike pretty much everything they put on our cars stock. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of these cars, but comments like that deserve what was thrown back at them. Do our spoilers make us go faster?
I really hoped to see that hood go into production. I liked it a lot, but i'd never be able to use it with the motor i have now.

That you have a 2.8 instead of a 3.1 or you swapped in a 3.1? The 89 TTA was a 3.8L
Yes, that is true, nobody asked for any opinions on if anyone thought it was rice or not.

Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
automorph.. remind me.. what's wrong with a 3.1?.. i have that and i just sold my 86 SC with a 2.8L.. you make me sad.. your argueing with a bunch of 3rd gen guys.. on their home turf at that, and i'm going to have to agree..some things are better left unsaid... the hood looks cool.. but i'm too stuck on the SS one myself.. but if it ever goes into production.. and i by some crazy chance have my car all fixed up.. bigger engine nice interior.. and i could make it somehow work for me.. i'd gladly buy it..

Nothing wrong with 3.1.....just dont go claiming things are "rice" when you drive a car that has a hard time keeping up with a honda civic.....

As for the hood though, I'm really liking it. Agreed about the demand be heavier when it comes to Camaro's, but nobody can argue that it'll definitely look better on a Firebird....

I'm not docking it for functionality, but paint the blasted thing. then it'd be cool. AFTER ALL this is the Auto-Detailing and APPEARANCE section. I believe my comments were warranted. I love you meat heads.

Has anyone tried just contacting the website where this car was found? I'm sure if someone can get in touch with the company in Japan, they will work something out with shipping.....

Re: Did anyone ever start making that japan heat extractor hood for Camaros?
I ordered fiberglass Z28 fender vents from here:
http://www.dankoreproductions.com/de...id=DAN621FND-V
I will be getting a plain flat fiberglass hood and using the aftermarket blisters on it for a more stock appearance. The hood will be vented under the blisters and the fake grill in the blisters will be cut out for heat release, then the 80-81 style Z28 fender vents will be molded into the hood for more heat release.

If you guys are serious; especially you folks in Cali. Get ahold of matt@anvilauto.com hes been working very hard on carbon fiber parts for domestic cars. In the past he has even went so far to provide free product to the person who submits there car for mock up/mold usage.
