spray shine

I recently became th owner of a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am after selling my 82 Firebird. Car was in a minor accident a few years ago. Was my dads and he gave it to me. Anyways, the accident left the car with no bumper hood and the front pass and driver side fenders werent really that great either. I recently replaced replaced all of those. Found all in junk yards. The car is black with the gold kit going around it and has the gold rims. The hood I bought was blu, fenders were red, and luckily I found the front bumper mint of a junked car that was the same color scheme so I just put it right on. Evenetually hopefully over the summer I plan to get the car repainted professionally. Thats the last thing as right now im more concerened with replacing eveything with performance parts and restoring everything. Anyways on to my reasoning for this post. I painted the fenders and hood with some black dupicolor spray paint in the meantime. Surprisingly it didnt come out to bad and from far you cant really tell its spray canned in those areas, unless your really good with that and have an eye for it or I tell you then you kind of can tell. You can really tell though as you get closer and closer, like touch distance. Anyways the areas that have the original paint like nice and arent faded at all and the spray painted parts look significantly duller, especially the dirtier the car gets. My question is, is there a way to make the spry look shine and look nicer? I heard that you cant wax spray can paint because it will take the paint off. Like I said. The car doesnt really look bad Im just a perfectionest and picky. I want to be able to wax the car and **** but dont want the paint to come off. Anywys any tips and tricks would be helpful. I'll try to get pics on here tonight.

Re: spray shine

Did you use the Duplicolor clear coat on the parts too? If so, try color sanding those parts. I saw someone who did his taillights with the clear and after he color sanded them they looked like a mirror. I still needto sand mine and try to get them to look as good.
