Meguiars Show Car Glaze
i was looking on the Meguiars website and saw this product: http://www.meguiars.com/?pro-pure-po...Show-Car-Glaze i was wondering if anyone has used it, and what their results were. im not looking for a carnuba or a wax. the car is covered and garage kept, im not worried about lasting protection. i just want something that will make it shine nice, even if it doesnt last long. im staying away from carnuba and other waxes because my clear is starting to get thin in some spots. from what ive heard, if u use too much wax, it can deteriorate your clearcoat. Also, does anyone know of any stores i can buy this in? i would rather buy it in a store than order it on the net and wait for shipping
thanks

Re: Meguiars Show Car Glaze
I actually tried that on a panel of my car, and topped with with a carnauba, and it looked awesome. Many people complain it is horribly hard to remove, but I used a thin coat and was fine. Glazes are strictly for that nice deep wet look. If you are looking for long lasting protection, your going to need more than that glaze. I'd top it with a sealant or carbauba depending on the look you are going for. Any real carnauba wax is not going to have any abrasives, therefore it is not going to harm your clearcoat. The only waxes I know that have abrassives are the cleaner waxes, and of course polishes and swirl removers.

It is a great product. It will not have long lasting reslts if not topped with something. It will last on average for one week if not topped. You can get it at autozone or Oreily's for sure. It is $12.00 (?).
I called Meguiars car crazy hot line and they said that the only waxes they sold that had no abrasives (chemical or regular abrasives) were the gold classs carnuba wax and the high tech yellow wax #26. I forgot to ask about the carnuba wax in the 3 step series though. Next tech wax has abrasives, along with all their cleaner waxes.

If you are going to get a glaze, I'd recomend Clearkote Red Machine Glaze. I think if you were to top that with a carnauba you'd be pleased.

Re: Meguiars Show Car Glaze
#7 Show Car Glaze is a great product, but it's name is a very good indicator of it's use: for making show cars look their best. Of course, this is after properly prepping the paint with a proper clay and defect removing polish, but that's another story.
Here's the deal with #7, and it's how I was taught to apply it by the guys at Meguiar's HQ in Irvine, CA: apply it using one of the little yellow 4" Meguiar's applicator pads you can find in most auto parts stores. Work it into a roughly 2' x 2' area using only light pressure. You'll feel it glide on real easy and then start to drag against the pad. This is when you need to start wiping it off with a clean microfiber towel. Start in the center of the area you just worked and sort of "break" the surface of the product all around, then come back with a second pass of the towel to remove the rest - don't try to get it all off on the first wipe. This is what Meguiar's calls a "pure polish" and as such it has no cleaning or defect correction abilities at all. As with all Meguiar's polishes do NOT let it dry before removing - with #7 you'll be cursing yourself for letting it dry as it's a royal to remove once it does dry. Just continue this process around the whole car.
As for abrasives in waxes, other than a wax specifically referred to as a "cleaner wax", I wouldn't worry about them one little bit. The cleaners in NXT, #21 Synthetic Sealant, etc are so mild (well 21 has virtually none) that you could wax a car every hour for a number of years and not have a problem. I do understand what you're going after though, rwdtech, but I would still recommend topping #7 with Gold Class and think you'll really like the look.

glaze, polishes, etc... all need to be used properly. with that said, i've used it and had good results. i bought mine at my local murrays auto parts store. i've seen it at pepboys and other national chains too.
