Best wax for the first wax
Best wax for the first wax
This'll be my first wax on my car. It was painted 7 weeks ago, and I'll give her it's 3rd wash tomorrow and then it's first wax job. I've always gone with Mothers wax for my other cars, and I've heard NuPolish isn't that bad for old, faded paint, but what's the best kind of wax I can use for the first polish, not just so the water beads and it shines, but so it it can, kinda, sorta, maybe, make the imperfections look less... imperfect? What do you guys suggest?

Electric blue metallic. It has wet look acrylic hardener, and just some normal reducer. It's 20 year old Nasan paint, and it has a couple runs, any way wax will blend that together? No sealer, just paint on primer.

Not sure I understand. If you are asking will the wax hide a paint run the answer is NO! No sealer? That can't be good for long term. The sun is a powerful force. If that is the case you will want a good wax.
Re: Best wax for the first wax
I painted the vehicle using Nason Electric Blue Metallic paint (I'm sure you know what metallic paint is.) I put wet look acrylic hardener in the paint and normal reducer (because that's what you do with paint). There are imperfections in the paint, some dust flecks, and it is not a high quality paint job. I did not put sealer on the car, it will be repainted within the next year, properly. I am looking for some good, short-term wax. This will be the only coat of wax on this paint before it is removed. Can anyone suggest the best wax for making imperfections look less imperfect? Well, maybe then you can just suggest the best quality wax for the car.

Re: Best wax for the first wax
Meguire's is the best wax. Some swear by Zaino. Other's like Mother's. Can't go wrong with any of these three. I don't know of any wax that will hide inperfections although there maybe one, none are advertised as that. In fact most waxes will probably highlight misakes. Since you are going to repaint eventually I would not worry about the mistakes and just shine the car making it look as best you can for now.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't worry about it. Save you cash for the best paint job you can get next year, and in the meantime spend some time researching the best way to take care of that future paint job. Seek advice from places like autopia.org and meguiarsonline.com
