I don't like the dish soap thing. Always leaves a film to my eye. I just cold wash and clay bar or compound the car (or both) to remove everything. Another wash after the clay bar should put your car at wax off point. It works for me.

i actually had a shop wax the car a month ago and when I washed it the other day found a number of white marks everywhere on it. the car wash and elbow greaes wouldnt ge them out so I used some turtle wax liquid bottle spray wax and it pulled it all off, looked great afterwards too.

dish soap will not do anything to the paint!. ive used dish soap to wash my crotch rocket for the last 6 years about every week i have it out for the season. i have 26,000 miles on it and ride the crap out of it and can take it to a show and people tell me they cant believe how clean it is for how many miles are on it. still shines like the day i baught it. dish soap isnt harsh enough to hurt clear coat. it works great to remove wax and polish and stuff like that, and the damn chain gunk!.

dude, after my old 4th gen got painted the owner of the bodyshop told me to use a light Palmolive to wash the car instead of a regular car wash soap..
