All the horizontal surfaces on my car are dull and cloudy. I am going to get it painted later this year, but this problem is ticking me off in the meantime.
My apartment compex pressure washed the building several months ago, getting my car wet in the process and it seems that ever since, the paint looks like crap.
I used a d/a polisher to buff out the paint on the hood, roof and trunk(the sides look perfect for original paint) but while it seems smoother, I can't seem to get that 'wet' look back. it still looks dull and cloudy.
Anyone got any ideas on how to bring the paint 'back', or if it is even possible?
I had a bra on the front of the car at the time this seemed to have happened and the paint under that was not effected...

Yeah, I think you are out of luck. When you apply Wax, and you still get the dull finish, the paint is gone. The only thing iyou can do is new paint. Granted you could use some rubbing compund, but that will only last untill the next wash or storm. I have tried everything for this condition. I have a Rotary 2600rpm polisher, DA, And most of the 3m And Meguiars Polishes and waxes. I have tried them all

Let me get this straight: your paint used to look pretty good, both horizontal and vertical surfaces, until the pressure washing of the apartment building and now the horizontal surfaces look bad but the verticals are OK? Is that correct?

Sounds to me like one of two things: 1) an overspray/fallout kind of thing - does the surface of the horizontal surfaces feel rough when you rub your hand over it, almost textured? If so then go get a clay bar kit and have at it. Remember to wax after as the clay will strip off everything. 2) some sort of solvent was used in the building pressure wash that actually damaged the paint. If so, then a repaint is probably the only choice you have.
