I have heard SO many HUGE positive things being said about the "Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash Pro-Series" and i'm a bit confused.. Especially when it comes to Zaino.

The system (the filter) helps to prevent water spots and dries the car completely without you needing to do anything, correct? Now is this ALL because of the FILTER? Or does the soap that comes with it need to be used also?

I use ZAINO and obviously to wash it I use Zaino Z7 wash. Which of the following does that mean?

1. Don't need z7 anymore and just use the autodry soap. (So you just Rinse, Autodry soap, rinse, walk away.. no zaino z7 anymore needed).
2. Don't need the Auto dry WASH, wash rinse car with "unit", followed by regular Zaino Z7, and then use the rinse on the "unit" to rinse Z7 off. The filtered water will result in the car COMPLETELY drying itself without any water spots.
3. NEED BOTH "unit" AND the soap to produce the ability for it to completely dry the car itself without any water spots, but because you use Zaino, that I need to rinse, use Z7 wash, then (rinse again? to remove zaino wash), then unit to "wash" with autodry soap, and then rinse with unit making the LAST soap on the car the Autodry soap?

Thanks

I'll be honest with you, you'll still have waterspots with Mr. Clean Autodry....it's not perfect, but still it'd only be a few here and there. The problem lies in the filter and soap (I've used other soap before despte it's warnings that it would clog the sprayer) and I had better results when sticking with their brand. What sucks is that the filters go bad quick and both they, and the soap get pricey quick...even though the filters say it's good for a good 6-7 washes, I begin to notice a lack in quality after 2-3....if you're using Zaino already, I would almost recommend sticking with it...that stuff is years beyond Mr. Clean

Stay away from Mr. Clean. I bought one to try it out. It worked great for the first 3 times then when i changed the filter some reason it stopped working good. Also the soap they provide is junk in my opinion. It doesn't get enough soap on the car either. I just tossed it and am sticking with the traditional method. It may take 15 minutes longer but that thing isn't worth messing around with.

Mr. Clean is intended for people who take no real pride in their cars and just want to wash them with as little work as possible. If you love your car, and I have to assume you do if you're spending money on Zaino, then don't bother with Mr. Clean. Besides, it leaves a nasty residue that isn't really noticeable until you go to wax the car, then there is a great potential for problems.

My suggestion, and this works best on a well waxed car (works absolutely the best on a properly clayed, polished and waxed car), is to do the following when washing the car: after your final rinse take the nozzle off the hose and turn the water pressure down a bit. You'll get a nice, uniform steady stream of water at the end of the hose now, so do another rinse of the whole car using this. Hold the hose parallel and close to the surface of the car to minimize splashing. Those millions of tiny little beads of water will run together and sheet right off the car. This method will remove 80-90% of the water on the car before you start drying. Now take a couple of good waffle weave microfiber drying towels and you're done. We have stupid-hard hard water here in SoCal and I don't have water spotting issues on any of my cars using this method.

If the car is a mess and has little to wax on it, then the above method doesn't gain you much. If you use Meguiar's new Ultimate Quik Detailer on a regular basis between washes, the above method works amazing well because of the hydrophobic properties of UQD.

I don't get that tho. How can filtered water do that?

LOLZ!! I was washing my car last night and just knew someone was going to ask this. I should have made myself more clear: the filter doesn't cause the film that creates a problem when waxing, it's the Mr. Clean soap that does it. Obviously there's nothing wrong with filtered water, but since you have to keep replacing the filters it's just an added expense and nuisance that you really don't need. Try the final rinse method I outlined above and you'll get the picture.

Trust me, our water is so hard that even the old leaf blower drying trick doesn't work for me. I tried it once and all I got were little mineral deposit trails all over the place, left behind as the water evaporated.

OK, I gotcha, you basically want to use the Mr. Clean thing as a foam gun with your Zaino wash. Sure, it will work. I use a "real" foam gun to wash my cars though, a Gilmour from www.autodetailingsolutions.com (also at www.autogeek.net) since I can adjust the level of foam.
