rear louvers

Re: rear louvers
I also have some slats but they are numbered so I don't know if the 3rd brake light option can be replaced with slats I have from another row. You can replace the brake light with just solid slats (cause that's what I did and that's why I have 2 light kits), so I know it can be done.
Mixing manufacturers parts will not work. They are done differently.
You can take them apart if you are careful. Be sure you buy some black RTV to put them back together. If they just need to be repainted, scuff them up good and buy the Duplicolor Trim Black paint. It looks really good if the prep work was done correctly. If you do have to take them apart, go skow and be careful not to damage them.
I do have parts if needed. Look at post 29 for my inventory.

Re: rear louvers
I just checked the slats that I have and 2 of them are numbered 1,2,3 and 4,5,6,7. So the 1 slat can be used in slat position 1-3 and the second one can be used in 4-7. Because of the shape of the window, you need to adhere to the numbered scheme. If you find a set with a 3rd brake light, I can set you up with the pieces needed to replace the light with solid slats.

Re: rear louvers
I remeber in the past you were able to lift these things up to clean the window. Mine do not seem to lift. Is there somehing I need to do to lift it. My back window I could barely see out of....

Re: rear louvers
On the side ABS and the bottom, there are 6 allen head screws. They twist only 1/4 turn to unlock. Release all 6, wiggle them loose. They do not come off the ABS so you don't need to worry about losing them. There are prop rods tucked up where the ABS meets the slats. Be careful with the prop rods as they are not very sturdy. They bend easily and can allow the louvers to fall and the prop itself can scratch the paint if it bends.

Re: rear louvers
It's been said a few times that finding these will be difficult as they are no longer available. You should read the entire thread before posting questions like this.

I did read the thread, like 3 times. But there has to be somebody out there that sells factory louvers. I mean GMpartsdirect has all kinds of stuff for these cars.

I use them all the time. They are a great site! Low quality as far as web development but high GM (if there is any) quality parts

Re: rear louvers
So does anybody have the part# for those louvers that mike_c has on his GTA? There are a few other online sites that carry factory direct parts pretty cheap too.
Also, if I get louvers they dont NEED to be factory origional. As long as they look just like those ones with no brake light cutout, and fit the aero wing, and are a 1-piece look.

Re: rear louvers
The prop stand is part of the ABS side pieces. I do have the prop stand, but I'd hate to seperate them at this point.
