something needs to be done about the headlights
something needs to be done about the headlights
i know keeping things original is nice and looks clean but i was washing my car and started looking at the front and the headlights just seem so old school. all the new cars today have sleek single headlights and the aftermarket features for the lights are outstanding and their is nothing realt for our square ones like angel eyes or projector. so i was thinking what if i take a rectangle headlight from like a BMW M3 or a 91-94 cavalier or berretta. NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL! anyone else done this or have any pics of it? i wonder what all kinds of headlights would fit???

I like our square headlights.

Check out that thread for some angel eyes with the blue ring on the end. They look pretty cool.
All of the pictures I've seen of one piece headlights have looked dumb. Most people take them out of a truck (forget which one) and shove them in there. IMO as long as the headlights look new (or are new for that matter) and are nice and shiny (along with the turn signals and everything) they look pretty good. You could always get a tinted cover to go over them; I always like the way those look.

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
Even though I don't mind our headlights I know what you are talking about. That just comes with the territory of an over 25 year old design.
Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
i have been thinking about this hard all week while sanding bumpers at work(good emagination keeps you alive doing that all day) and i realized one of my friends have a VW corrado 90-95 and his lights are pretty much a good rectangualr shape so i measured them and it will fit so i looked on ebay for headlights like that and their is a bunch of aftermarket headlights to choose from and this is what i came up with to buy...the only thing im the back of my mind is how is the wiring is going to work because these headlights look very complex

it will look nice if you can pull it off. ya the wiring would suck especially if they are HID type lights.

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
Look at the 2nd gen "burt reynolds" trans ams that year one is building (they were in hot rod a few months ago) All of those have a single square headlight I believe from a 96ish chevy truck and they look pretty good but I think mounting and wiring them would be a pain. Im just bolting a set of generic "diamond cut" headlights on mine and that will update it eneough. But if you can pull it off more power to ya

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
heres another for keep it the way it is. the stock headlights look pretty damn good and are super easy to adjust or replace. i think they give the car a real agressive look.

okay i'm a keep it stock looking guy and i'll admit the only thing i don't like about my car is the headlights. They look bad except if you get silverstars or the blue ones from eBay. IMHO

buick regal sealed beam headlights work great, seen it done before.
Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
i think as soon as i get my check im going to get those headlights for the corrado. they look pretty nice and have everything i want in a headlight. ill take pictures as i go through the project for anyone that wants to do about the same.
but i also had an idea for those of you that are fiberglass freaks.
take four round healights from a mazda miata or w/e and build an enclosure around them like you would for a sub box or speakers and then get a clear cover to go over the whole thing.

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
you dont have to take any tips from me...i only have a show winning car at every show its ever been too but in any case....i got the lights from a member of the boards here last week, they are blue tintes glass...the inside is chrome...kinda hard to see since the car is blue in that pic...maybe this one you can see better...
Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
they look good withthe color of your car, but i dont know how they would look with my white car. but in ur picture it looks like you cut out the top part of your ground effect on the front? looks kinda neat and more air flow for a bigger radiator.

dude it was a joke i don't need your credentials
ya those are the same they use for G body SS Lumina conversion. They look okay. I would like to see then with a more clear lense on them and i think they would look sweet! and ya blue on white only really looks good if it's a theme of you car. IMO

How has it held up.

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
yea i love blue. i wish i had a blue camaro but hey back at the age of 14 i couldnt complain. but i plan on painting indego blue stripes on top of the cadilac white lightning pearl. its going to follow the senter hood line and the 2 outer lines on the hood in traditional camaro style stripes. and yea my enteior is custom. designed the whole thing cost me 3 grand for all the suede and $1,000 for each seat out of a ferrari
Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
what tint? oh yea and also i have white guages now and a new alpine head unit with a remote and i made a shifter plate out of carbon fiber i just had laying around the house and a bunch of neons

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
I've got 9004 bulbs in mine... I like the stock look a lot, though. It's part of the charm!

Just looks like a cleaner version of stock. Modern yet without sacrificing the original character.
If Georgia allowed it, I'd ahve some smoked headlight covers on there. They look absolutely rad IMO... Looks like a race car. Like how the Mclaren F1's headlights are.

Re: something needs to be done about the headlights
Any time I begin to wish the headlights were updated I see a newer car with their sealed enclosures all hazed or filled with condensation. Then I'm glad that when I change the bulb, I get a brand new, crystal clear, shiny enclosure! Stock for me.
