Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

thanks celticsfan for the link but those arent what im looking for...i dont like the 'lines' in the middle of the glass lens in that set...though i have read they are quite good. im looking for the ones that are totally clear on the lens. any links for good companies to buy from? and what bulbs will fit..

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

I'm getting the nokya headlight bulbs also. Got artic purple H4 nokya's that are supposed to look like HID's. Mine are 120W output but consume 100W I believe(100/120), don't remember for sure. Might have been 90/100's. Ordered them last week, haven't been home yet to find out what they are like. Got 100W's for the fogs. I also was smart and upgraded the wiring. I've built my wire harness by using 12gauge wire, high heat resistant connectors, and 30A relays. $25 for 20 feet of 3-12 from home depot, $10 or so for the high heat resistant connectors from autozone, $10 for 10 30A-relays from summitracing.com. The diamonds and nokya bulbs you can look up on ebay, maybe $70 shipped altogether for those. I had stuff left over.

I'm thinking the bulbs are going to be better than silverstars. If anything they cost a little less(ebay). Some of the reviews I've read elsewhere on the internet say the silverstar bulbs do not last that long. I have silverstars on my other car and they are alright so far on that car.

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

i have silverstars on my other car and they worked wonders for the light output so i am very happy with them. when i get the diamond clear housings, what silverstar bulb will i need for them? i checked sylvania's website (silverstars manufacturer) but i only found the standard 4x6 silverstar sealed beam headlight. will i need to upgrade the wiring to do the diamond headlight housing/ with silverstar bulb?

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

You will need a H4 or 9003 bulb, they are the same thing. No, you will not need a wiring upgrade because the silverstar's output on brights is stock output(probably 65 watt output).

A wiring upgrade may make them slightly brighter though.

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

I got to say WOW! The Diamond headlights continue to impress me. Just got my 100W/120W Nokya bulbs in. I changed one bulb in under 5 minutes and I used no tools. No re-adjusting the headlight, didn't have to take off one bolt/screw. Just had to be somewhat good with my hands. This is for the 82-90 firebird diamond halo headlight.

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

not trying to high jack a topic or anything, just wondering, im installing hid's into my h4 housings and they are form an audi tt the whole kit, i was wondering if i should relay them or just hard wire them to the stock headlight wiring since they do use only 35 watts and regular h4 use twice as much or more its just starting the hid ignitor might give me some issues, any advice opinions...thanx...

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

Since it only uses 35W, stock wiring should be fine. I'm no expert on HID's though.

Re: diamond clear headlights with silverstar bulbs

If you upgrade to HID, a relay and wiring harness is a must!

True, they consume 35 watts, but that is only after they warm up, during light-off they consume quite a bit more.
Lots of wiring harness have been burnt up even on newer cars due to improper HID upgrades, trust me, your 15+ year old wiring will not want any part of it.

Lots of venders are providing the wiring and relays as part of their kits now. I just installed some on my Yamaha Rhino, and they came with a very nice prewired relay/wiring kit. It does save a lot of time and lets the HID's have all the power they need while starting up.

Summit sells a harness by APC, and also one by painless, IIRC. There is a "how to" in the tech section if you want to build your own.
