Basketweave? Are you referring to the crosslace wheels? Here's a Camaro & a GTA.

So, we "ruined" a set of 87 only wheels. But, that's what she wanted. I wouldn't have told her no, not even today. They could just be stripped & re-golded.

Re: Picture with basketweave rims?
Oh...BTW...what's the difference between these rims that are "dimpled" to those that aren't?

Re: Picture with basketweave rims?
The small "hole" at the end of the laces, just before the polished lip. I have a pic of a TTA with non-dimple rims, so it has incorrect wheels on it.
87 without dimples.....
88+ & up with dimples...

Re: Picture with basketweave rims?
Thanks for the quick reply....so, was there any reason for the dimples? was it just an ID thing from a new manufacturer? the rims are the same dimensions, right?

Re: Picture with basketweave rims?
Not sure why it changed.
Now, I've heard the 87s were weaker, and the people mounting the tire could "stretch" the center hole out, causing the center cap to fit loosely, but I don't think it had anything to do with the lack of dimples. Just a change in material, or possible thickness in some places. Dunno.
We never had any issues on our autox car, and we ran the 87 crosslace for the street, 3 piece wheels for the track.
Same dimensions, all 16" x 8".
Weird thing is, the Grand Nationals, that I know of, always had the dimples, yet had the crosslace wheels before GTAs.
