too much?

ok, i had my 92 camaro up for sale, but i gave up and decided to keep it and fix it up.. we're sending it in to get the front end fixed and get it painted.. also right after we're getting rims put on, i'm just woundering if 17's are too much?...

i'm looking at american racing AR 690's (basically iroc rep's) and i am just woundering how they'd look on my car.. if anyone could post pics of them i'd really be greatful

Re: too much?

17's look great on these cars. And you can usually go right on up to 18" and look great.

Re: too much?

I would definately get 18's. If you get 17's you'll just want something bigger later on... I have 18's now and sometimes I think about getting 20's...

Re: too much?

18's are generally the largest you will see on a third gen and still look good, ive seen 18/19 combo setups that look fine, but most everything larger starts to look silly.

With 18's you can fit just about all popular brake upgrades as well

Re: too much?

I'm with everyone else, 16's are too small. 19's are on the large side, but can be pulled off with a nice (not bling bling nice) wheel and a low car.

Re: too much?

alright, i'm sending my car in for paint hopfully by the end of the week, and i was really considering American Racing AR 690's...

but the smallest they had was 17's, i'm more into having rubber to burn then these low profile tires..

if anyone has any ideas on what would look cool with a Black 92 Rs, be sure to let me know

also feedback on those rim's would be nice, thanks

Re: too much?

Looking at the american racing site the only sizes they show available for a 92 camaro in model AR 690 is 16, 18 and 20. If are stuck on those then go for the 18's but if you don't really care about the size and like the style you should be able to pick up a set of factory 16's for way cheaper.

Re: too much?

when i went to les schwab they said it was in 17's thru 19's.. my grandpa told me i had to get a set from les schwab cause that's where he buy's all his tires and wheels and he gets deals..

and as for the 18's idea.. i'd really have to see them on a car.. i always thought 18's would be much for these cause, but what do i know, i'm only 17 lol

Re: too much?

I find Les Schwab to be insanely expensive to get rims from, personally. I get my tires from them because their service is great, but I wouldn't buy my rims from them.

Re: too much?

i've never bought a set of rim's from anywhere.. the last set of rim's that's been bought in front of me was when i was 14.. didn't get the whole money concept then.. but honestly, you think taht's a good choice for the car?

also kinda off subject, but the t-top's on my 92 rs are shot, and new paint with faded cracked plastic looking tops.. i tried my 86 sc top's on it and they didn't fit, there a reason for that? or was the wreck it was in more serious then it looked?..

I have these Z06 replicas in 17" X 8.5" going on my red RS next weekend. Getting them through Discount Tire. Supposedly no spacers required as the offset is 15mm, or so I was informed, we'll see Saturday. These would also look good on a black car.

Re: too much?

17's in my opinion are the best size rim for these cars. 18's look good too, go any bigger than that and you just look dumb. thats juts me.

where is that joker that wanted to put 24's on?

Re: too much?

oh.. my...goodnesss, those rim's are the one's i want, but les schwab didn't carry them, idk if there's a discount tire near me.. i gotta look into it.. but those were what i wanted, but the whole spacer idea didn't sound too fun..

and i saw the thread about the goof that wanted to put 24's... that's just crazy talk to me.. but those rim's are seriously, amazing, i want them, if anyone knows where else i can get a hold of them (not online or anything like that) please let me know

Got the on this morning. No fitment issues whatsoever no spacers. 17" X 8.5" with 15mm offset. Here's what the look like on the red 89, best pics I could get in this Washington weather .

Re: too much?

All right Al, now that you can see those brakes you'll need to clean them up a bit! That rust is the only distraction. Looks real good.

I'm a fan of bigger wheels. I run an 18/19 combo with a large drop. But then again I just have a problem with excess.

Re: too much?

There is a difference between my 89 and my 92. The glass is identical, but the pins are different sizes, the 92 has much larger pins to secure the tops. I don't see a problem with removing the hardware from one and putting it on another, as matter of fact, I have a set of hook style latches I am holding for someone to use on a set of lexan tops for his 82.
