Stupid Question...
if you don't change the overall dimensions I dont think it changes anything. So if you went with bigger rims but thinner tires they'd be the same size.

thinner tires with the bigger rims would keep the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo the same. They just have a bigger hole to accept the larger wheel and have the same outside diameter.
