Problem with new HID xenon headlights

I just installed a HID headlight kit in my 1992 Camaro. I'm using Hiper Industries blue xenon bulbs, rated at 55W I think...anyways, I just replaced my sealed low beams with the new ones and they worked. However, the high beams are on VERY LITTLE for some reason; it's like they're barely getting power, but they're on- and the low beams are EXTREMELY BRIGHT...I mean BLINDING. When I turn the high beams on, they turn on correctly, but the driver's side low beam xenon turns off and the passenger side low beam xenon dims SUBSTANTIALLY..they're still about 100x brighter than my old sealed beams, but now they don't blind you as much..I assume it's what they SHOULD look like with normal low beams on...so can anyone tell me what's going on? Please? Thanks!

I had to change the wire position on mine. Just take the wire out of the plug and rearrange them. We had to play a bit to figure it out on mine but the same thing was happening.

what i did, and this is what the guy told me to do after i bought them off him from ebay, is either unplug your high beams all together, or cut the green wire on the low beams or just break off that tab the green wire goes to itself. either way, you won't have any high beams anymore. the brighter light you were talking about is how bright they are and the one you should use. i have bright bluish type fog lights as well, so i don't really need high beams anyway. if you just unplug your high beams, your high beam indicator light will stay on all the time when your lights are on, but if you cut that green wire like i said, it the indicator light would only come on if you were to hit the high beam switch, even though you won't have high beams. at least this way it's not annoying with it on constantly. hope this helps some. i have two of these kits, one on my 89 rs, and one on my 91 rs cnvt, and enjoy the way they look at night on both of them. good luck....

Camaro 22,

I have a 91 Z28 and i was thinking of converting to composite. Where did u get the kit to convert your cars? I was just going to custom fit a composite bulb in my sealed housing. Which would look better?

I disconnected the high beams but the indicator is still on and the low beams are still bright as all hell. I'll try the wire thing tomorrow. Thanks.

bahamut, like i said, the indicator light will stay on unless you cut the green wire, or cut the tab off the bulb itself that the green wire goes to.

i got the kits off ebay. if i'm not mistaken, the company lowglow makes the unit. it looks just like the normal sealed light, but it has the opening in the back with a rubber seal so it's still sealed as well. i'll have to find the guy i got them off of and let you know, if no one else knows a different place to get them. they were $40 a pair in case you're wondering.
