I have 3 sets right now that have the mirror effect on the inside. Are you sure you have original t-tops and not the aftermarket conversion. My first Camaro had aftermarket t-tops and I didn't even know until I went to swap a set from an original car. The easiest way to tell is if you have metal bars on the front and back of the t-tops. They will go from one side of the car to the other. Or you could have one of the plastic sets that came in later years. If you want a set of the mirror ones I could sell you a set. Make me an offer if you do.
the early cars were mirrored on the inside and the later ones were black tint from both sides. so you're both right :-)

I thought all the glass ones were mirror tinted from the factory - the Lexan ones were not. I had Lexan in my 1992, and swapped in some glass from an earlier model - the Lexan just cracks in the sun and looks bad.
the later year glass ones have just black tint and they also don't have the plastic trim around the perimiter.

Does anyone know what year they started being non-mirrored on the inside?
I have an 83 and they are mirrored. I hate it. I was so looking forward to being able to see the stars through them at night and you cannot see anything but the interior lights and anything really bright outside.
Has anyone ever successfully removed the mirroring?

I was looking for more of a privacy look. i had an extra set of t-tops that were mirror finish so I painted them satin black then I put black felt (to match my headliner) on them with spray on adhesive. they stay nice and cool to the touch and I have the best of both worlds.. t-tops on and I feel like I'm in a hard top, but I can still take the tops off at any time..
