proper sotck decals
proper sotck decals
Ok...here is a question for all the experts out there...In 1988 the IROC-Z decal on the doors moved from the front of the doors to the back, the Z28 badges on the lower portion of the front fenders changed to IROC-Z. This identification was maintained between the 1988 and the 1989, and part of the 1990 models when Chevrolet only produced IROC's for half the year..., so now the all important question. On some cars I have seen underneath the IROC badging on the fenders, a decal that reads 5.7L Tuned Port Injection. What I would like to know is, which of the 3 years is supposed to have that identification, and if possible the RPO Code for that...would it be removed if the car was ordered with the stripe delete option that came available in 1988? I'm looking for the pro answer on this one...thanks folks!!!
you have the 5.7L Tuned Port Injection sticker under the IROC-Z badge on the fenders? Is it written in the same colour as the IROC decal on the door? Do you have the striping on the car too?

The "5.7 TPI" decal under the "IROC-Z" rocker panel plate should be the same color as the IROC decal on the door. On the decal/stripe delete (RPO DX3) cars the engine designation decal is still used. Along with the engine designation plate on the rear fascia. The color will be dependant on the wheels or interior color.
So basically the decal should be there on the 88-90 IROC's...
I suppose that I will have to replace them on my car huh? Does anyone know of a decent place to acquire a shop manual for the Camaro or the IROC-Z? I am not looking for the Haynes or Chilton manuals because they cover all the models, through the V6 to the 350 small block. Is there one specifically for the V8 models. I imagine that I will need to contact GM

s10ss2002,
I just had my car repainted. Before it went into the shop it did not have the "5.7 Tuned Port Injection" decals. When I took it to the body shop, I told them to put everything on it that was supposed to be there when the car was built, but the 5.7 TPI rocker panel decals were still not present.
I kinda want them... they look good. I went and ordered a pair of them from http://www.decalking.com for $12 shipped. They are supposed to be GM spec material and size. Hope they work out well for me. I have no problem taking a chance with them considering that the GM decals cost $25 each, plus shipping. That would be OVER $50 for those two decals.... rip off!
