washing or just detail spraying

so i heard if u dont get caught in the rain you should just be able to quick detail your car with microfiber towels to get the bugs dust and grit off, i havent washed mine in a month i usually detail it 2x when i take it out on the weekends and a few rare week nights to the local cruise. its still looks awesome. am i hurting anything by doing this. its sits in the garage otherwise

Can't really hurt anything as long as your using good auto soap and good wax. I wouldn't use anything like rubbing compound and watch some of those bug/tar removers they thinned out the clear on my moms front bumper of her camry. Stick to good old soap, water, and elbow grease and you should be fine. Also watch how much wax your building up not sure if u wax it after every wash. I do a good paste wax once or twice a summer and then right before i store my camaro for the winter. Use the same wax but in the spritz spray form for in between coats unless you like buffing.
