Painting Iroc rims
So I picked up a set of iroc rims really cheap, 250 for the set.
Heres what they looked like as I bought them

So I had to paint them, only have the fronts finished so far.

So what do you all think? Good for my first time really painting anything, even though I used rattle can paint?

Wow those look great! what article did you follow on polishing them or did you do it your own way? i like how the factory machining marks are still slightly visible.

I Think that it looks really good. Looks like you made all the corners crisp and I see no overspray. Good Job!

Re: Painting Iroc rims
for polishing I used some fine grit sand paper, and uses American Racing Metal Polish (the cloth stuff). I spent most my time just taping the polishe parts off, cut the tape with an exacto knife to get good lines, and just use a fine grit sandpaper to get any overspray off. Polishing could be much better, theres minor defects in the aluminum that I just couldnt get to go away, and I didnt dare try anything more abrasive than what I already used.

Re: Painting Iroc rims
The previous owner stripped the clearcoat, I used mainly 1000 and 2000 grit sand paper, and some synthetic steel wool stuff that was pretty fine. I got almost all the stuff from eastwood. Some I had laying around.

Re: Painting Iroc rims
Look awesome. I painted those same IROC rims (the one line ones) and it also took me rediculously long to tape off the polished parts. Well worth it though!

Re: Painting Iroc rims
I started polishing mine, but I started at 50 grit, and moved up to 1500.. Took like 8 hours a wheel.. I eventually got bored and only did the fronts...

You did an excellent job
Especially since this was your first try. Prep work is time consuming, but well worth the efforts. Thanks for the pics.

Those look really nice. I'm going to get some IROC rims like yours and paint them the same way.
