Post Your Daily Driver Project third gens...

Im just curious who all has a third gens that drive them every day. I would like to see what your cars look like because im going for the show car/ daily driver... and i want to see what other people are working on. Granted that i wont drive my car in the snow and salt but other than that the winter months are still game. So post your pics of your daily driver project cars. I would really like to see what you are building. Ill start with my IROC-Z -Matt

Here is my DD. I drive it every day...even when there is snow. I have had to return home and find another ride though when the snow won't allow me to make it out of my neighborhood...

Snow? What's that?

We get ice & rarely snow. But here is my DD...Sun, rain, snow or ice! In fact, it is my ONLY car.

Heres mine, driven every day unless its getting fixed, which happens more often than my wallet would like. And it is constantly an ongoing project, with no end in sight anytime soon.

Re: Post Your Daily Driver Project third gens...

Not near as clean as others on here.... yet. It's a work in progress. I'm currently working on the interior. Finished a ls style 5.3 swap with 4l60e tranny over the summer. Going all black and charcoal interior and orange and black outside with billet specialty wheels. Getting it all done in due time.. Still a college student at least for about 7 more months.. Let me know what you guys think.

And yes it's driven everyday!

nice, how easy did the 5.3 go in? i might be interested in trying that because LS-1's are expensive as hell here (and anywhere)

It really isn't a hard swap at all. I used the truck harness and just hooked up like 10 wires to the fuse box and that was it. Of course I did delete all unwanted wires first and had my pcm retuned. for mounts I modified trans crossmember and got motor plates to set it back an inch.

It was my DD for 2 days before I broke a push rod and rocker arm stud, now its in pieces getting rebuilt to be FASTER. It has no heat, no air, no radio.. 3500 rpm converter, th350 and a vortec headed 400sbc..

Im 17, and after i graduate and get back from the air force boot camp it will be my daily driver again...

Hope this counts?

Daily driven, then detailed and taken to shows.

She needs a new coat of paint, though... a deer bounced off the front bumper and made spiderweb city. Luckily not too much damage. The hood's a little wonky, but she still looks good... from 5 feet away... or from the back, which is what most people see anyway.

Daily driven for almost 5 years. Ive put on maybe 25k miles. Working on an engine/tranny/rearend swap. Just had it painted, and bought the wheels about 3 years ago. It needs an interior, and a winsheild. But it starts every morning.

Re: Post Your Daily Driver Project third gens...

If it was the first time it happened, I would be upset. If it was the last time it happened, I would be in disbelief.

No hard feelings or anything. It just makes me feel better to correct people. People see my cars and assume they're a guy's. Happens all the time.

Axle/Gears: Moser 9"
Re: Post Your Daily Driver Project third gens...

not exactly my daily driver because i have a 91 dodge d250 with a cummins/5spd with 500k on that gets far better fuel economy than my 'bird, but it does get taken out when i realize it has more fuel in it than anything else or when i don't feel like rowing gears in town in a 3/4ton truck. it's pretty much ready for paint at this point, though i don't really have the cash to do that yet. and honestly, i kinda need to sell it...but here's a couple of pics:

Re: Post Your Daily Driver Project third gens...

Daily drove it up until it tried to commit suicide a few weeks ago. Rain, snow, shine, fog, dark, light, winter, summer, anywhere and everywhere I drove that car. And most times with the top down, incliment weather be damned.

As soon as I get the LS* in it, it'll go back to the body shop to be fixed and then go back to daily driver status.

Hey lookin great,
RK82: I like the look of the old school pontiac mags. They look sweet. You gonna put the whole set on? I like it.

These cars make me more proud to drive my camaro because i know im not the only one who doesn't have another car to drive at the moment. I can bum my moms truck sometimes but thats normally being used. Thanks for posting. Keep it up

Re: Post Your Daily Driver Project third gens...

Man I love all of yalls cars.I just have to say If you must drive them everyday be careful and keep em up.I couldnt bare to drive mine all the time in all weather and keep racking up the miles.I mean I could/can drive her daily and do when my truck is down.I just had to buy me a beater pickup to keep my baby in the garage until its time to play.Plus usually both arnt down at the same time. Our cars are getting harder to find in good shape like these.
