Can the word PONTIAC be repainted on these lenses or should I just buff out the remaining shadow and polish the lenses without it?

I plan to try and make a template that I can use to paint them by tracing and cutting (old fashioned way) but would like to know if there are decals or templates already on the market. It would save me a bunch of hours.

Anyone try either of these methods and what were your results? Thanks for any info you may have.

I'm pretty sure I've seen decals but just can't remember were. Later.

Re: 91-92 TA Tail Light Question
Any local sign shop could easily remake some for you, out of some good vinyl.

Or if you wanted to paint them back on the inside, they could make you a paint mask decal so you could apply it, paint the letters, peel the mask off, then repaint te entire inside black again, & restore the lenses.

Re: 91-92 TA Tail Light Question
The sign shop may be a good option since these are painted on the outside of the lens. That's probably why most have long since faded away. It was originally unprotected red/orange flat paint. Much sun and many washings did the logo in about 5-7 years ago.

Re: 91-92 TA Tail Light Question
I've always thought they were painted (or decals) on the inside, then black painted cover (again on the inside). I've probably never really paid attention to one in person though.

Re: 91-92 TA Tail Light Question
If you are not a purist try to match the decal with your paint color. I tried the tomato red originals, then blue like my car. I even tried solid blue letters with a faint gold outline but that wasn't too stellar IMO.

I went back to a reflective blue that is a pretty damned close match to my paint color. When its in a reflective type decal on thin lines like the original decal it looks pretty decent.

I think each decal cost about 7 bucks so it wasn't a big ticket item that you should need to budget for. Or if you want an OEM equivalent I think a friend of mine gave me the addy of a gal in Australia that knocks em out.....

Re: 91-92 TA Tail Light Question
Actually, I was going to do them in the gold that was used on the other TA logos on the car. I saw one like that and it looked way better than the original "orange" against my dark red.

I plan on looking at some other cars at a show this weekend and then I'll decide whether to have a sign shop make me a stencil or make one myself. I have decided to stick with paint rather than decals.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks 383. I'll take a look but I think I will probably go with the paint rather than a decal.
