Recommendations on cleaning headliner?

Recommendations on cleaning headliner?
I need to clean the headliner and don't see the need to remove it for such, but what are some recommendations? My concern is the liner staying adhered to the backing and not falling down afterwards because of something "reacting" with the adhesive and dissolving it, so to speak. Or am I on crack?
