Re: I HATE SHOPPING CARTS!!!

Thats why you allways park in the furthest spot from the doors and take up two spots. If you go over the scratch with your fingernail, does it catch it? You might get away with a good polishing.

Re: I HATE SHOPPING CARTS!!!

If you take up two spots, you're just asking someone to come along and key the car or worse. The type of person who damages another person's car who they dont know, love to mess with people who think their car is so special it needs two spots.

Park uphill away from most of the cars, or use another car as a shield or by some border like a curb. Though, if the car is really nice, you just simply dont take the car to a parking lot out of sight.

I'm pretty sure wegmans carts have rubber borders, and to scratch to the primer would involve either a cart ghost riding downhill at a pretty good speed or someone deliberately scratching the car either with the cart or something else. Sounds suspicious that it was an accident.

Ahh I remember Wegmans when I was living in NY. Love the food service they provide on the spot rather than shopping for groceries. Sorry to hear this happened to you.

Agreed, There is a Mexican restaurant around here that is really good and there located in a strip mall but there on the end, so there are few "up front parting spots". There was this yellow mustang really full of himself and took up two parking spots in the front. Guess he though that cause it was in view that no one would key it. WRONG! that sucker was keyed up . people just walk up to the place on the way in their hand low and key sticking out.

Sucks about the paint job even if it was a macco paint job. These past few months I've had the fun of seeing the world treat my new paint job with little care. Total of 5 scratches and two dings. Not fun and that is with me parking as far away as I can where ever I go, People like to park around me even if I'm no where near the place.

Re: I HATE SHOPPING CARTS!!!

Well takng up two spots up front will get you keyed for sure. Ive never been keyed or had my doors hit by taking the furthest spot and angle parking in two stalls. I park my truck the same way...not a parking lot ding yet.

Re: I HATE SHOPPING CARTS!!!

this happened before i painted my car:

i was parked in a rest area on the NJ parkway and me and my gf were gonna go out to dinner (shes at school 50 miles away, so we met in the middle and took her car for a night out) and i thought i parked in a safe enough spot....under a street lamp, and next to a nice looking 02 suburban and when i come back that night this is what i see:

the suburban's door trim took a huge huge paint chip out of my car when they slammed their door into mine....i was so pissed, thankfully i began on the body work shortly after.

another one was a week and a half after i repainted my car, i go into wawa (for those of you who dont know, its the greatest convenient store ever) and i come out, and theres some old lady with her buick's front end hitting my door and shes trying to pull away still while backing up with the wheel turned all the way, dragging the front of her car down my door and almost pushing my car out of its spot...i was so pissed! i got the insurance money and fixed it though which i guess is what matters lol...the door is still a bitmessed up but you cant tell

I don't care how far you park or how save you think you are when ever there are carts or cart corrals around all it takes is one good gust of wind. iv seen these suckers take off out of no where at a unstopping 15mph+ and damage cars clear a crossed an entire parking lot! and because theres no other cars around acting as a damping force to the winds forces its open session for any car parked way out. doesn't look like its paying off to park and shop in a thirdgen.... sucks

So this happens to other people too? Depending on the parking lot, sometimes I park my Camaro far away from any other car. I go inside, take care of business, come out and see a few cars parked right next to me. It's just a cluster of cars in the middle of nothing. There is plenty of room to park closer to the store, but it doesn't matter apparently . It never made sense to me. Most times, I was only in the store for 10-20 minutes... People are weird...

Re: I SHOPPING CARTS!!!

I dont know. You can't stop the malicious person from damaging your car (there is no such thing as accidental parking lot damage caused by other vehicles)... but as for unmanned shopping carts. I always park uphill if possible and try to find some shielding as best as i can. Not much else you can do other than not parking in a parking lot. If you have a paint job that is worth a decent amount of money, then you dont do something stupid like park in a parking lot. Such is the sacrifice. Just like you wouldn't drive close behind cars on the highway with a new paint job.

My van nuys paint has drastically decreased my worry about scratches. It comes pre-damaged.

If the lot isn't flat, parking on the top of hills rather than on the downslope or bottom is all you can do to prevent carts from hitting your car. Nothing you can do for other people's ignorance unless you keep your car under constant watch.

- I agree with ya parking up hill, i do it as much as i can. I also try and park behind the little islands with trees that some places have its just one more layor of protection.
- If you park far enough away the general population is usually not willing to walk that far giving you about the best protection your going to get...
