Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
I already know of at least 1 3rd gen Camaro already running DS2s & 2 'birds being worked on to be fit with DS2s, which are used in applications from BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, Lamborghini and Audi.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
My projectors are D1S & i just recently built a set for a member with the same projectors, but with D2S lamps.D1S/D2S style are the best bang for the buck.
As for the JY most, if not all late model projectors are pulled by employees or early birds.Dont hold your breath on finding TSX/Valeo/Hella or any other popular projector.Try ebay or hidplanet.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
thats not what the 19Chevrolet84 asked for? I asummed he meant plug and play Hids not ones needing modding of the headlight harness

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
Dont think he meant plug & play.He asked what car to look for at the JY.Any car you get projectors from, whether at the junkyard or not will not be P&P.
The cars to look at are BMW, Mercedes,Jag,Audi,Infinity,Lexus,Acura. Also vettes, cadillac STS/escalade.There's more, all late model.Like 04-up, but again good luck finding them at the JY.
Try to keep them under 3inch dia lense.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
EVERY HID retrofit will require "modding" whether it is a plug & play mod...Or a cut & splice mod. The only 100% plug in "HIDs" are just that.....FAKE HIDs.
If anyone wants to retrofit a TRUE HID into a sealed beam vehicle? It requires some sort of "mod". No way around that.

I got my fleabay housing in today and already cut them open. The 3" projector fits, but I had to grind off a small bit of the metal lip of the projector lens housing. No biggie though.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
Its a Valeo projector, e55 is bi-xenon & too big.Compltete kit is $285 or just the housings/projectors is $195 (buy your own HIDs)
The HID kit i have is ddm 35w Raptor ballast,D2S 4500k or 5000k lamps,harness & D2S adapters.
Plus shipping or pick up if local. You will need to enlarge the hole in the bucket as i did, but no other cutting required

So this is a Lo-Beam only setup? Not like the Hi/Low E55 you were working on for 'birds?
I live too far out of town to give up my High Beam headlights.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
FBs have hi/lo in one headlight, seperate on camaros.I dont see the point in rearranging the stock set-up.So FBs get bi-xenon, camaros dont.No need to give up hi beams either, still fully functional.
If someone wants HID hi beams. Then another HID kit is required for camaros.Siverstars work well in the hi beam, thats what i have.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
"So these? what size?" not understanding! Did you edit a pic or something?
Never tried E55 since they are bi-xenon.I have a set of Valeos that are too big at 3in(Vs 2.5 on my car).So i knew the E55 would be too big also.
My hi-beams function as original, just have a Osram(silverstar) lamp inplace.Never use them anymore though.
I know of a 2.5 bi-xenon projector that should work in both types of FB lamps, but its $150+ for the little buggers.Dont think many would buy my FB retrofit if i used them.Thats about double what i pay for the Valeos.

Yeah, those are for camaros, still working on the FB set-up.Even if those would fit the later FBs.They are still single xenon, not bi xenon.

Did a little upgrade on mine.So they stand out a bit from the rest.Sorry, halos & shrounds are not included with the retrofit.Gonna do the hi-beams too.

Halos were easy, but i had to trim the shroud alot.Almost half the size now.You dont have the little hole for the city lights anymore. It was cut away for the projectors.

There is no 4 headlight set.Only 2 (lo beams) for the complete kit.No plans for shrouds or halos either at the present time.My current set up is pushing $400 just for parts.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
Have you thought about using the Morimoto for Bi-xenon, and putting it as close to the glass as possible maybe quarter inch away from it? I would be really interested if you could make a set for me like that, as they would be going on a talon that I have.
Morimoto's only cost 135 for the set and use an H1 bulb. You probably already know all this but here's all it's specs.
Max Depth: 136mm (5.35" inches) Max Height: 70mm (2.75 inches) Max Width: 80mm (3.14 inches) Lens Diameter: 2.5 inches
If not who is the seller of the "projector" housings you're buying from? Ebay seller?

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
Not for the camaros, but thats the exact same projector i wanna try retrofitting on the firebirds. The way i mount the Valeo, puts lenses at about 1/16 apart from one another.
I dont know what kind of headlamp talons use.So i cant say if i can make you a set.Plus unless the talon uses a single headlamp for both hi/lo beam.I dont really see the point in retrofitting a bi-xenon as opposed to a single xenon, but thats your choice.
At $135 plus though. Its not something Im gonna be doing anytime soon to see if they'll work for your talon. However if your willing to buy whatever headlamps you need for the talon.Plus those miromoto units.Ill be more than willing to give it a shot. You'll still have to pay for labor, of course.
I buy my "projectors" from ebay seller cyber-speed2008.Sorry i could'nt be of more help to you.

Re: Projector retrofit inside(w/pics)
Just looked behind them. I should have enough clearance, if not I could cut away at it back there since it's not structural there. It'll be a couple of weeks to come up with the funding since I have some stuff to fix on the car, but I will be willing to. How much would you charge for the labor?

Ah, so just stick the tape to the back of the halo, and stick it around the projector. Thanks a lot!
