Easy fix for fading t tops!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to tell you about a simple and easy fix for the outer plastic on the t tops, I know that a lot of people are having the problem that they are fading and it looks like crap. Well I was afraid to paint them myself at first because I was afraid that it would look bad since I have never painted anything before. But all you have to do is first remove the t tops and put them on a table or something to make sure that you don't get any overspray on your car, then you mask off the glass and little rubber weatherstripping and you get some 400 grit wet sandpaper and a can of black trim pain (you can get it at any walmart or autozone) and get some rubbing alcohol to make sure that the surface if clean. Then you take the sandpaper and dip it in a little water and just sand ever so slightly just enough to make the pain stick, don't do it too much or you could leave scratches. Then apply a generous amount of alcohol to a rag and wipe over the t top plastic good. Then let dry about five minutes and then shake up the can real good and in a sweeping motion put a couple thin layers of paint on and then let sit about 5 to 10 minutes and then do the process again and then let sit another 5 or 10 minutes and then do it again. By this time your t tops should look new but if the fading is really bad you might need to put another couple coats on, just make sure that you don't put too much paint on at a time because it could run. After a couple hours they will be dry, but I recommend letting them sit over night and your t tops will look like new. I hope this helps someone. Good Luck!

Does anybody think it would look okay to paint these strips the color of the car? Perhaps white? Or would black look better?
