About to install my klearz...

I grabbed an old junk set of tails from a junkyard so I wouldnt have to ruin a nice set of grids... and this is the problem I'm running into:

The sides of the lenses aren't really meeting the flanges between each light... so there's going to be some light bleed across all 3 lights.

This is what it should look like:

Not what Im not sure about is whether or not this is a really bad thing. All of my lenses are smoked red. So it will jsut mean I've got a little bit brighter/larger light area in the back when I use my brakes and ahve my lights on...

But I dont know... do you guys think this would be a big deal? Or is this insignificant? I ask because for the money I spent on these lights, the minute I epoxy them to these tail lights they're pretty much stuck on there forever. I think.

I heard that the alignment on these lights is not perfect. How far off is the light from the flange also, can you post pics of how the entire set looks (test fitted ) on ?

Re: About to install my klearz...

Pretty much every lense I had was warped and bent and not lining up right. I had to basically test fit all of them, and then run them under a hot air dryer for a minute and twist/bend/flatten them into shape... which was basically just twisting and flattening them into each other so that they all lined up.

It took me an hour or two... but I think dealing with these lenses warping is just par for the course. I dont think they even have any control over that. As the molds cure tehy tend to move. However a little heat on them and some poking and they'll bend however you want them to.

This is how mine look now:

Re: About to install my klearz...

when i assemble my lenses i discovered the same problem. there was a little bleed over from the white, red, and amber lights because i had clear lenses. it wasnt enough that i noticed and they still to this day look and function well. since your using red lenses i dont think you will even notice.

Re: About to install my klearz...

Im very happy with mine right now... I just spent the last few hours putting them together and after Ig et some black pin striping tape in it I think they're gonna look amazing.

Im almost finished with these... just have to add the grid lines and they're done.

I'm going to get started on the pinstriping whenever I get around to it, for now they still look quite good. The pinstriping will help hide the seams, though.

Despite these being smoked red... tehy seem brighter to me than the lenses when lit up... Very cool.
