different color in "sockets"

i just have one quick question....

every picture i have seen of a iroc-z, the "sockets" for the headlights are ainted black... on the sides and on the bottom. my "sockets" are the same color as the rest of the car. my car is dark red and an 87. i believe this to be the original paint, since it's not in the greatest condition.

anyways, im just curious

thanx

Its a factory change. They are black for the later years. Not sure what year this started. Mine are black.

It's a special paint treatment used on z28's and irocs, my 84 z28 has the blacked out headlight pockets, seen a few rs's with it though...

Sunbound, my car has blue sockets- just like the rest of the car. I have an 85 iroc- you are not alone, and our cars are ok

It was just a way GM could make it look a little bit different than the other camaro's. I prefer the body color 'sockets'.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

My car is yellow, but my sockets are black. And my car isn't a Z28, IROC, or RS. Just a SC. I think it was an option of the sport coupes.
