New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

Just giving a heads up on this relatively new hood on the market (I think). Its made by Harwood and called the Pro-Touring Type II style hood.

Comes with bolt on and lift off. Here's the site:

http://www.eharwood.com/catalog/prod...?productID=485

Saw it in a magazine a couple weeks ago for a 69 (big surprise ) but got really excited when I saw that they listed it for camaros from 67 - 92.

Id love to see a picture if someone could post one of the hood installed on a third gen cause I havnt seen any yet. I think the squareness would go really well with our cars.

Not bad at all, just think it might be better if it was higher in the back for us that need extra hood clearance in a bad way.

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

Now not only does Papa Johns only give Camaro owners free pizza, but Harwood screws the Firebird owners (as usual) by only making their new hood for Camaros!

Odd thing is...In the drag racing world, competitors always choose the Firebird over the Camaro, due to better aerodynamics. But they are screwed when getting a custom hood, other than stock or cowl induction.

I'll second the SS comment, just a different take. Wonder if it's functional. Don't think you could pull stripes off with it though.

Stripe(s), no, a single? Hell yes, it would be perfect. Black with the single white stripe starting at the opening and just the width of the top of the hood.

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

Exactly what i was thinking im stuck between that or that newish "Sunoco" style hood thats at Hawks. Ordering one of the two in the next few days.

Almost didnt want to post the hood up and keep the idea to myself so it could be original haha but you know, gotta help out the fellow third genners... and maybe sell a few more hoods for harwood to show the large third gen aftermarket.

Glad this thread is getting some attention

82-92 Camaro Pro-Touring Series 2.5” Bolt-on Hood. Features a fully finished underside and installs with factory hinges and latches. Includes a custom trim bezel for the air inlet. Air inlet comes closed from the factory but may be cut open for a functional ram air effect.

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

Ok, so here are two pretty crude photoshops of the hood on a camaro and a firebird (im being hopeful for you guys haha). They're kinda off scale wise and well, really not all that great in general so I dont need anyone to tell me that its just to get the general idea of it. Not to mention, i was bored. Just found the cars on a google image search so i dont know who the images, or cars, belong to.

Little too far back, for it to be very functional. I'd say it is right at the TB opening & certainly no room for a MAF, in a MAF car.

On a 'bird, I'd like to see it wider & angled even wider at the back, matching the indentations in the stock hood & the form in the nose in front of the hood.

I came real close to doing this right before I started hacking up my hood. If I ended up doing this I would follow the lines in the hood and move the opening forward enough to make a functional ram air for the LSX in my 89.

I think it looks pretty good. Most of the stuff out lately is 4th gen rip-off stuff. (some of which is cool). ...but it's nice to see something relatively original. The boxiness really fits the lines of our cars.

lol I was kind of thinking that it's a 5th Gen SLP camaro rip off myself. Still a very nice hood and something different.

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

I think it looks cool. I like the idea it can be made functional. For a long time I wanted the SS hood but it was not functional. The only functional ram air hood for the camaro is the WS6 style ram air hood, and that hood I think is hideous on a camaro. Too bad this hood is $600 though.

this is the reason no one builds **** for our cars

and it wont be overly functional if not simply for the fact that the scoop needs to be right on the leading edge of the hood to get any air.

LOL, I couldn't agree more. Nothin' but tirekickers here.

I think that it's a pretty generic scoop. The earlier models of RA1 and RA2 scoop hoods are all but identical to 4th gen hoods, but this scoop is pretty generic. You can see it on cars from the 60's to today.

Not that I plan on getting an aftermarket hood, but if I did, this hood might be the one. Still can't beat a stock louvered hood though!

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

I like it.

Reminds me of a BB or stinger hood with the hump removed.

$600 ain't bad. I'm looking at $800 - 1000 for aftermarket.

Gotta pay to play.

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

I don't think $600 is too high for a hood that is genuinely awesome and somewhat original.

I'll be looking into buying one for my convertible after I button up my LSX swap. I think this hood looks awesome and would compliment the uniqueness of my car quite well, with the swap and the custom grill I made. Thanks for posting this, I have a friend working on a photochop of it on my car right now, and when he's done I'll be sure to post it up. And he's realllly good at photochopping too.

Also, for those that don't like the $595 price tag, their site shows a lift-off version for $389 if you wanted to go that route.

Re: New Third Gen Camaro Hood!

No offense to whoever's car that is, but with that hood (as if this wasn't the truth anyways), you really NEED black headlight buckets and then it would look great.
