Looking good! I take it this is still a "work in progress"? I see six items missing.

Very nice. I agree, it looks a little high off the ground. And I like the 91/92 ground effects, but yours don't look bad at all. I love the wheels. Keep it up.

I have MANY more parts to put on it yet. I do have a new set of lowering springs and shocks. The fog lights are still in the box, missing all emblems, door guards, stripes and decals.

I am going to change interior color, replace the top, replace the entire suspension, new exhaust and finally replace the anemic stock 305. I may also convert to a six speed if I get tired of the automatic.

I'd personally leave the stiping off. I think you should put the emblems on though. I don't like the striping at all. But its a beautiful car, and I'm sure stripes wouldn't totally kill it.

To each his own. In my opinion, it's the striping that makes the car unique. Z28's and IROC-Z's came with striping and they should have it. Without it, it's just another...... RS look-alike. I believe that's why so few IROC-Z's came with the decal and striping delete..... Again, just my opinion.

Hey Chuck we have the same car, 88 IROC convertible, I'll have some pics soon but I had a different question. Is the dash display on a convertible different from that of a coupe? because for some reason I can't find how to turn on my highbeams, there's no switch, **** or anything, any help?

It should be part of your turn signal lever. Pulling should activate them. If that doesn't work, it is probably broken or someone has replaced the switch with the wrong one.

Beautiful car Chuck, but then that is what we expect coming from you . I really like the ROH wheels, and personally would leave the stripes off.

Basett_Racing, It is a Dodge color called Ruby Red Pearl Coat.

RARE-ROC-Z, Yea it is the ZS again. I tried to find some Snypers I could see in person and I couldn’t so I went with the tried and proven. You are right that the car does not have the attitude the RS had but that is inherent to the convertibles for some reason. I think after it is lowered it will look a little more aggressive. You are not getting down on my car and I value your opinion.

Saywhut, I am thinking no stripe but my wife thinks otherwise. I am not even sure I want to put the IROC decals back on. I can not decide what color would look best for stripes or decals.

Chuck,
That is one sweet paintjob!!!

Got a question fer ya though.

Don't know if your car had the clear vinyl strip that went around the Tanneau prior to the new paint.
Our 91 had it prior to the paintjob.

When we got ours painted the body shop added 3 more coats of clear to that area and then blend sanded.
Came out real nice!!

Reason they did that was so I could buff/fine sand in the future to get the rubber marks from the top off the paint.

What did they do on yours??

As for the stripes and emblems/decals.....

If you're going with a grey or black interior then I'd get those emblems that have the silver/black lettering. I think it would compliment the interior.

And for stripes.
You and several others might think this is a really f'd up idea and frankly I'm not sure how it would look myself, but try to imagine this.

Ok, on the body skirts.

Leave a inch or two of the body color on the top of the skirts.
Then blend/fade into a black 1/2" or 1" stripe which fades into mystic teal on the bottom of the skirt.

The mystic teal has alot of pearl in it as well and appears anywhere from a light and dark green to a light and dark blue depending on the light conditions.

I think the mystic teal would be a nice color combination with your body color.

And to set it off a little bit you could also go with the teal emblems.

Take a look at my sig photo to get a good idea of how the teal looks.
Notice the color shade difference from left to right on the front spoiler by the license plate.

Again just a thought no matter how crazy it might sound.

I'll have to remember that tip when it comes time to repaint mine. I was going to try and find the 3M clear tape they used, but I dislike the fact that it turns yellow brown from reacting to the rubber seal on the top. I would be curious how it holds up for you.

Chuck, if you don't mind could you post the mods to your old RS? I'm curious as to what you had in and out of that beauty.

Oh and, do you by any chance have anymore pictures of it?

Same here, I did not add the tape. It looks bad after a while and I can just buff out the marks and or repaint as needed. My car is a weekend warrior so it is not that big of deal The top won’t be up much anyway.

It had two different motors in it. The first was a carbed 424hp 383 and the second was a carbed 350 with aprox 400hp but a lot less torque. I was breaking way too many parts so I sold the 383 and built the 350.

Hey chuck the iroc looks great! I dont care for the striping as others suggest, the two tone look isnt my thing. Even though I think you should put the iroc-z on the door. What kind of mods are you doing to this irocs motor, keeping it tpi or going carb? I was also wondering when would be good for you to meet up and sell those rims, I should most definitely have the money for those rims this weekend

One eyed Jack and Mac, send me an email. This is not really board material.

I am not sure what I am going to do with the motor yet. I want to venture into modified EFI but I know carbs a lot better.

I think it was 2.75 or 3" as I recall. It was made by Harwood.

Sorry but I have one more question...

What size are the ZS's on the convertible? For some reason they look small.... maybe just the picture.
