Plenum, runners and alternator
I've taken a look inside my car and all these parts are suffering from corrosion!
I've had the car for a long time and while the engine has been dirty the plenum as not shown any signs of corrosion until now. I assume it is because I tried cleaning it with some degreaser recently and obviously I should have applied some protective products on it afterwards. Any recommendations?
I suppose that now there is nothing to it but for me to take the plenum, runners, throttlebody and alternator off and start buffing them up, found some guides on gmtips.com. I also got some buffing equipment from Eastwood to use.
But I won't bother starting until I know what I can use to protect it afterwards, aluminum will oxidize, buffed or not so I'd rather do anything until I got that in the clear, it'd be a waste of time to buff up the parts and then have them oxidize again in no time.
Also I plan an engine wash before all this, can anyone recommend what parts I should cover? So far I can think of the alternator, battery, TPS, distributor and ignition coil.

Just don't spray in the alternator. Everything else is fair game, just be sure to use you air compressor to spray the entire engine off. DIST CAP is very important. If you spray everything off you will have no problems. Everytime I wash my car (I have a pressure washer at home) I always do the engine, and have never ever had an issue.
