GTA new spoiler :)

i'm not gonna put original wrap-around-crap back after car's painted, so which one you'd choose for replacement?

my choices would be A&A universal wing 99$ from: http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...6&lastcat=2374

or supra style 150$ from: http://www.erebunicorp.com/wings/pontiacFBIRD.htm

I'm gonna smack the hell outta ya for even mentioning the supra style. That won't go right with the body shape. CONSIDER SIZE, TRUNK LID SHAPE, AND THAT BIG *** THING IN YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR, Plus its STUPID!!

That was the most mature thing I've ever heard. Why the hell would you threaten to "smack the hell" out of someone just cause they like something you don't? Not everyone likes the same things as you, get over it.

Now my opinion: The universal wing isn't too bad, but I don't know how it would look on a 'bird. I do not like the Supra style wing at all, but its your car, do what makes you happy to it. I would personally keep the wrap around one, but you said you don't want to so don't.

stock crap-around looks good but:

- weights no less than 200lbs
- made of rubber...
- impossible to have GOOD paint on it which will last from noon to 12am with no cracks

wrap around replacements cost up 4 times more than the ones i'm thinking.

anyway ideas still welcome, i want to choose the best

Then why dont you go for the 4th gen wing? I think that would look the best on your car. I personally do not like the supra style wing on our cars....but yes it does look good on the supra. It just doenst go with our body style. And the other one just doesnt make any sence to get....you would be better off getting a stock firebird wing. What about a Z28 wing...I think that is the one Im thinking of. There is a black TA on the boards with it. It is like that high rise one for the camaros...not the flip up one. Good luck on finding a wing..and what is wrong with yours? I am looking for a replacement wrap around wing...so let me know if you are willing to sell it.

Um, neither. I'd get a stock style wrap-around or a 4th gen. Or at least a Z28 wing, but neither of those two (especially the Supra) is going to look much better than that carbon fiber abomination that GOFASTER wants for his car.

thanks for comments Guys! i think the black GTA here on the board (car on videos on the track?) looks cool! i think it has late style z28 wing? where i could get one?

also RPO D80 wing is ok, the legendary KITT wing i found that one for 169$. but IMHO it doesn't look bad enough from my slow GTA

i'm from Finland, so i don't have fbody junk yards every corner, so it doesn't matter do i get original or aftermarket wing - cost a lot anyway

more ideas?

Don't listen to these morons. Get the wing you like, its your car, you drive it, not these trailer park idoits. I am so pissed at some of these people on this board. They have no sense of style at all. They want to all be the same, same Z28 wing or RS wing with the same wheels and same everything and if you are not going with that, then they call you rice or give you ****. Well, my advice get what makes you happy Finland. Hope that helps, and if you want my 2 cents and which wing, go with the supra style one

The black bird you were referring to is KarpsT/A's

https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/ridei...arkfrtqtr2.jpg

I have the Z wing myself on my bird

http://www.deadbird.org/a/wing1.jpg

Unfortunatly for a few reasons, I won't be getting any T/A taillamps for awhile
JEG's sells the 91-92 high rise for like $160, it's made by A&A. To certain peoples rules about things like that, both Karps & me have ricers now since the Z wing was not OEM for a firebird. The styling ****'s really need to get over themselves. Next, only blue eyed blondes will be allowed to drive 3rd gens ,,,

As far as your original question, I think the 1st one looks better but, the 2nd one could look alright. There was a red GTA picture floating in one of the post awile back on the audio board with a pretty high spoiler (like OldblueZ's) and it looked good (IMO).

This is kind of off topic, but are the rear fenders on a bird farther apart than on a camaro. Just judging by how the hi-rise spoiler fits on each, i would say the bird is about 2" wider. I dont know if anyone else has seen this or has actual measurements.

It's not youre eyes, the birds ¼ panels don't taper inwards like a camaros at the back, the difference in witdh on the top(flat) portion of the ¼ on a bird is almot 1" wider. So, you are correct in guessing the birds are wider. A&A could make them a little bit small as well. Eventually that wing will go.. somewhere.

You're just pissed off because nobody likes that Carbon Fiber hang-glider that you want to bolt to your trunk.

I think we do have a sense of style. If I wanted a supra spoiler, I'd buy a supra! If I wanted that carbon fiber park bench you like, I'd buy a honda to strap it to. I have a very good sense of style. That's why I drive a Camaro instead of that other crap. The last thing I'm going to do is make my camaro look like those cars.

I guess you forgot everyone here drives an f-body, including me. I know you don't like my new wing, so I will no longer harp. And, I am sorry you think it looks like a hang glider. But, you know what, I like my "hang glider" looking wing. So, could you just DROP it already!

lets breakdown this post,

1.Don't listen to these morons,

(obviously he wanted to listen to us or he wouldnt have asked in the first place)

I didnt see in his post anywhere where he said i only want the people who like the supra spoilers input he wanted our honest opinion i dont think he wanted us to just say what we thought he wanted to hear

2.Get the wing you like, its your car, you drive it, not these trailer park idoits.

(so everyone that dosent agree with you is trailer park trash??? I am willing to bet that if anythin most of the people here are far from that) I dont think trailer park trash can spend that kind of money on there cars. Plus most trailer park trash dont have access to the internet. computers are kinda expensive.

3. I am so pissed at some of these people on this board.

(then go away!!!! If you are pissed at us why waste your time complaining to us? I dont know about anyone else but im not gonna lose any sleep tonite because you are pissed.)

4. They have no sense of style at all.

If we had no style at all we would all say get the cheapest one and thats all that matters but the fact that eveyone is saying that they dont like certain ones is proof that people here DO have style, just because it is there style isnt the same as yours dosent mean that we dont have any style at all.

5. They want to all be the same, same Z28 wing or RS wing with the same wheels and same everything and if you are not going with that, then they call you rice or give you ****

Hmmm... this is interesting we all want to be the same. dont know bout you, but the whole reason i come to this site is because I want to talk to someone that is interested in 3rd gen cars and has a common interest with me. if you dont want to associate with people that only care about the z28 and rs wings then dont come to a site that is devoted to those cars. thats like me goin to mcdonalds and bitching them out because i cant get a whopper with my mcflurry!

6. Well, my advice get what makes you happy Finland. Hope that helps, and if you want my 2 cents and which wing, go with the supra style one

Congradulations this is the only section of the post that is actually good and should be here

Personally i dont like the supra wing on our cars but that is your opinion and thats what matters so i wont knock that.

First off, GTAs are unique in their own way. Many owners are currently trying to return them to their original looks, like getting the original rims, emblems, paint color, etc. I would keep the original even if it were going to crack after painting it. If you get the one that many say looks like a hang glider then your GTA will no longer look like a GTA, but instead like a regular Trans Am. GTAs like Irocs are special models that should be kept original at least on the exterior.
I do understand that this is your car and like many have said you are the one that is going to drive it and look at it the most. But whatever you do get, make sure you do save the original if you ever change your mind and wish to restore the car.
BTW, some on this board do not speak for all of us.
Good luck.

The Whole hatch weighs two hundred pounds, not the spoilder. The spoiler weighs at most 25 and seems like more when carrying just because it's awkward.

Replacements are all fiberglass, stock style from a boneyard are only rubber. The rubber ones you just need a decent amount a flex agent and make sure no one sits there bending it back and forth.

All the flex agent in the world won't stop the rubber from destroying itself. GTAuto makes fiberglass repops that look 100% original. I see no reason whatsoever to waste time with the junk rubber ones when GTAuto makes such a great quality, 100% stock looking piece.

OK. i can paint the original spoiler and put it back. currently my GTA is already going to get new paint.

anyway i decided to close all the holes required for crap-around spoiler. maybe i'll save it for some "latex freak"

i think modern style wing will look good. round shape, not like the KITT wing (RPO D80).

ordering original wing replacement to Finland cost more than new paint(!), so probably i'll choose something smaller and lighter for a wing.

-P

PS. how's that Fiero GT wing? that's Pontiac anyway
