What's your opinion?

I'm about to get a new spoiler for my 91 Firebird and I'm split on which I should get.
I can't decide between the original Trans Am wrap around spoiler or 4th gen replication spoiler.

Which do you guys prefer?

I would prefer a reproduction as the replicator aboard my starship is currently under repair

Re: What's your opinion?

I have a 4th gen spoiler, but in retrospect, I think I would have rather gone with the 91-92 style wrap around wing.

I like the wrap around look.

Re: What's your opinion?

The 1991-1992 spoilers on the Formula and Trans Am was a different design that you don't see that often. I would go with the factory look.

Re: What's your opinion?

I dunno, I think its a little much sometimes. Like it looks cool, but the outer edge is round and the car is square, it sticks out kinda far, etc. I dont think you can go wrong either way, either one will look better than the stock base spoiler.

Re: What's your opinion?

I see what you mean. The rounded edges of the spoiler don't really mesh well with the squared contours of the car.
It looks amazing from a side view but from the back it seems to look a little off.
I think I may just go with the original wrap around spoiler.

Re: What's your opinion?

I have a real 4th gen spoiler too. I love mine. Personally, I think it looks awesome from every angle. It has the same angle as the GFX on the door. I'm not a fan of the 4th gen reproduction though...it looks too small and a little out of place. Everybody always wants to mention something about squareness...really look at a 91-92 bird with the GFX and try to see how many sharp square lines there are. These cars are covered in curves unlike the 82-90's and the Camaros.

The best thing about going this route is that it's about 1/4 of the price or less of the stock piece or the repro piece.

Re: What's your opinion?

Do a 4th gen spoiler...still looks somewhat stock and grabs more attention

Re: What's your opinion?

How much extra work does it take to attach the original 4th gen spoiler to the 3rd gen? Is it seamless or require a bit of work on your part?

It's not hard. Here's a thread on my local board that covers everything I did to install mine:

We will be meeting up in Killeen on 4/18/10 if you want to come see it in person. Here's the thread on that:

Re: What's your opinion?

I'd love to meet up but college is keeping me pretty busy... not to mention a bit out of touch (I'm going to OU currently). Now when summer rolls around and I'm back in my home of Killeen, I can swing anything. How often do you guys meet up?

And the spoiler doesn't look too extensive to get on there; I might try this out. Thankfully, no junkyards are short on 4th gens.

Re: What's your opinion?

We meet up once a month...minimum (in Austin). In the warmer weather we usually get together a few times a month and there are a whole lot of times where we have 3-4 people getting together to do different things.
