Sylvania Silverstar Parking Bulbs

Just bought the clear parking/side marker lights off ebay and they look great. I went and bought some sylvania silverstar 2057A ST turn signal bulbs, and they won't flash when I turn the turn signals on with these bulbs in. I searched to see if anyone else had this problem but found nothing, what am I doing wrong?

Re: Sylvania Silverstar Parking Bulbs

Look at the contact points on your new bulbs and old bulbs, compare them. There are several dual filament bulbs that have subtle differences. This could be your issue

Yeah my flashers are good, the old bulbs will flash when they are in. On another note, I seem to remember the bulbs going in the sockets but I couldn't get them to twist and lock

Re: Sylvania Silverstar Parking Bulbs

Bulbs shouldn't make a difference. The flashing is because of the flasher circuit turning off and on. If they do illuminate, the bulbs are good. Unless the flasher is after the bulb and removed the ground in order to make them flash. IF that is the case and there is a short keeping it grounded they wouldn't flash. I'm not familiar with the circuit though.

The 2057 bulbs have two contacts on the bottom, one for each filament, ground is supplied by the metal body of the bulb. They do need to twist and lock in place in order for the contacts to line up correctly in the socket.

Use a bit of dielectric grease to help. I'm pretty sure I have the above bulbs. They function as they should.

Re: Sylvania Silverstar Parking Bulbs

Well today I felt like a complete idiot I pulled the bulb out of the socket and found out that the little round locks on the bulbs are offset and all I had to do was pull the bulb out and twist it 180*, put it back in the socket and it locks in place now. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Sylvania Silverstar Parking Bulbs

the simple solution/easy one is often the best . the only dumb/stupid question is the one that is not asked . don't feel bad we have all done the same thing . good luck .
