i got a question about tinting t-tops. can you tint t-tops? one place i called said that if you tint your t-tops they will absorb heat and explode, is this true. my t-tops already have tint from the factory i guess or aftermarket. i was wanting to tint them with some kind of mirror tint, kind of like the 1970's corvettes. i would like to have them darker and the rest of my glass with a black tint. any suggestions or comments?

yeah and if you polish chrome it will explode too!

 

When I got my windows tinted...i asked about getting my ttops tinted....they said that it depends on what kind you have. They could tint glass tops (though they didnt recommend it) but they couldnt tint the lexan ones. If you have lexan...I was told you could just buff it to take out any small scratches you have....then paint it with some of that tint spray from summit or wherever. I will try that whenever I get some time.

Aren't they pretty sufficiently tinted already? Mine are (with a mirror effect), and it was like that from the factoy. I can't imagine the need to go any darker.

 

Mine have been aftermarket tinted. It has the sort of Mirror like/limo on the Top part, and is fairly dark on the inside. I dont know much more than that though, because the prvious owner did it.

Mine are tinted and I do have some minor cracks due to it absorbing the heat. You can't really notice it unless you're in the car.

My t-tops are tinted and I have a crack in one of them due to the trapping of heat. Atleast as far I know.

I saw a set of mirror tinted T tops on ebay, and they were pretty cheap dont think anyone bid on them actually. So keep your eyes on ebay and pick some up that are allready done, this way if the "explode" you still have your original.
