Just don't blast it up close with full pressure and it'll be fine.Done it many times.Be careful around the distributor or be prepared to pop off the cap and wipe it out.

The best advise I can give you is to clean your engine after you are done using it for the day. I do my engine in the evening. Many people have called me saying that their car wont start. After I tell them to leave it alone for a few hours, the car starts right up with no problems. I do not recommend starting it immediately after a wash, especially after using chemicals. A lot of the time, your car's engine will miss and your computer may go out of whack.

I have washed thousands of engine bays, and have only has one car that wouldnt start, due to a coil problem. But about 100 have run rough afterwards, mainly due to moisture (caused by the hot high pressure) on plugs, dizzy caps (front wheel drive cars with over head cams are prone to this, due to the horizontal distributor) I wouldnt wash the engine unless I had access to a air compressor to blow the water out of electrical connections, and around plugs, distributor etc... Water can sit in electrical connections for days, and can rust out and cause all sorts of problems. Also if you get water into your intake, or heads, and then start the car, you risk engine damage (bent conrods.. etc.)

Unmarked Vehicle, if the engine is hot, and you spray it with a cold mist of high pressure water, you run the risk of cracking headers, exhaust, heads.. Maybe not a high risk, but still a possibility.

Just don't wash it with cold water after the engine has been running and you turn it off, you could crack the block. Or just leave the engine running while you do it.

I absolutely agree. I failed to mention that your car should cool down. Thanks for covering.

I would have a couple plastic bags and some elastics for the distibutor and the air cleanor. There's my 2 cents.
