Re: Black on black camaros

The plan is to black out my entire car also. I happen to have two sets of original 86' IROC rims so I am going to black out one set and restore the better of the two.

Anyone thought about what type of black to go with though? I am thinking of going with a pearl of some sort with some gold dust too.

Like this? I've recently had my rear wheels widened to fit 315's, so you can imagine how much beefier my cars rear looks.

They are the Morxchin C5 "replica", however, the spokes are a bit wider than the C5 and these wheels were 17x9.5 all 4. I widened the rears to 11" for some 315's. I painted the polished lip, too.

Just outta curiosity (if you don't mind), how much does it cost to have a set of wheels widened?

I had 2 of my 17" x 9" widened to 11"s, had the centers/spokes & inside loop powdercoated black and IIRC, the widening was $200/each & powdercoating was $100/each. Been a few years, so it coulda changed.

Re: Black on black camaros

I always wanted to black out my camaro, and for YEARS ive talked about powdercoating my wheels/painting them black. But allas I have not done it yet, always found some cool mod I wanted instead of painting my wheels black but one day! I swear! After I build my trans and bottom end I will do it. well or while but my 700r4 is dead right now.

Stephen - this theard is awsome! or would be even better if I could contribute. catch ya later

The marker lights look blue cause the only bulb I had at the time was blue.

Rims are american racing killer rims....fronts 20x 8.5 rears 20x10. Didnt want a 20 in the front but I got a hell of a deal on them and they didnt make a 19 in that rims.

I had a feeling. Personally I think w the right rims 20s are perfect on these cars. The black wheel is definately the key tho. I have been planning to go with 20s.... first car needs to run.. lol...

What offset did you go with? I wanted a minimum of 10 inch in the rear but was really wanting to sqeeze an 11 back there. How is your clearance in the back? Also what tire size u rolling w?

Last question... how low is it dropped. The stance with those rims is perfect.
thx

The rear tire size is 275/30/20. They were a pain in the *** to fit inthat wheel well. I had 2 inch spacers on all 4 but the tires would rub the lip in the rear over bumps. I had to shave them almost a half inch and no probs. I got eibach sportlines on it. Parked next to my friends iroc with 16" rims my car only sits a lil lower then his stock. I didnt want chrome 20's on it cause I think it woulda looked too ghetto and thugged out.

Thank you sir,

I promised to keep it that way when I got it from an old co-worker(a GM certified Master mechanic), who had kept it up since 1996 after his daughter passed away from brain cancer, he was getting older and he told me there were days when he would come home & see it in the driveway, thinking she was home and ...

So he sold it to me knowing my word was good that I would keep it like I had remember it from when my bud had a green one just like it back in high school that we used to skip class in. It now has 230,000 miles on it & still running strong!

Wow, for 230k that looks amazing. And it puts mine to shame at 82. Keep up the good work and box those wheels if your getting black ones.

LOL, sorry my bad, I don't think he'd mind me putting other rims (black 17in Z06) on the old ride, I would be keeping the stock wheels.
