They look great on clean thirdgens. But if your car is rusty, forget about it I've done photoshop jobs to my car to shave the handles and it looks incredible.

Way back when, my dad had them on his customized '49 Ford. It would definitely look better, but he said that the remote door poppers didn't work very well. Of course, that was using ~60's technology... Perhaps the newer poppers work better.

Do you have a place to put them up on the web? If not then I'm sure you could e-mail them to someone else here that does and we'll post them for you.

I'd love to see them and I'm sure many others would too.

BTW- How much did it cost ya?

Hey Fire^Hawk - Do your solenoids give you crap when it's hot inside the car? I've recently noticed that mine don't fully "fire" when she's been sitting in the sun all day and it's hot inside. I don't get it, I may have to rewire mine with thicker gauge wire. I get more double takes than I know what to do with. I especially like it when someone has seen the car several times finally goes, "HEY - You don't have any door handles!" Uhhhh... Like, where have you been?

Total cost was:
$250 for the kit from autoloc.com
$100 for welding over the handle "dimples"
I did the install in an afternoon; no drama.

She's gonna be pearl white with pearl ghost flames. I'm going to get two custom emblems made that say "Stroked and Blown" in some type of script font, that'll go down the sides of the hood (where you'd normally see "Ram Air"). That's also after I have the seams filled for good.

Of course, I have a LOT of priorities in front of paint and whatnot, so it may be a while.

Here is mine,

If your car is to be a daily driver I recomend you DO NOT shave the handles. It is a pain in the rear on a daily driver but for a show/weekend cruizer I really like it. It takes a lot of work to shave them though. Welding in patch panels, using fiber resin to reinforce the area then a light skim coat of bondo to smooth out the area, then a lot of priming and block sanding. But the end result is worth it. By the way if you live in a cold climate and the doors freeze shut you have nothing to pull on to open the door.

I have them on mine and it's not a daily driver. I do like it alot though. Everyone always says "how do you get into your car"? I just say I crawl through the hatch before I tell them how I really do it.

I bought the Autoloc kit. Just look through a street rod magazine and you'll see the ad.

In the last five years I've been through 4 control moduals, but only 3 selonoids. They just don't hold up well to the envoirment and rigoirs of daily driving. Since I have made my car a weekend cruizer I have not had any problems. Just my experiance and $0.02.

nice to see more and more owners of quality 3rd gens join the board all the time, very nice camaro, Prime.
and cant wait to see your TA finished someday, scauffiel

by the way, one of my friends has a 95 S-10 with shaved door handles (and the tailgate completely shaved with a moulded in rollpan) and his is a daily driver, it never gives any problems according to him, but the doors on S-10s dont even weigh 1/3 as much as Fbodys.
but even though his doesnt give probs, i wont shave my door handles on my truck, the tailgate handle and roll pan is enough for now.

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I was a member before as 350CamaroRS but that was about a year ago. I left when the "split" happened. Now I visit both.

dont think we need to bring that back up again.....

anyway, what about shaving the door handles and then just installing remote window controls? roll the window down, grab the inside door handle, wala, your in. That way you dont need a popper. If all else fails i guess you could just climb in through the hatch. just an idea....

Roll down the window, then open the door? Um. welfare? I guess that's ok for the midnght cruises to the shelter to pick up your government cheese... but the reason most people want shaved handles is the fact that it's pretty d.mn slick to be able to open the door by remote..... but, I guess everyone has different purposes/priorities...

Something to consider. Someone showed up to race at the new local 1/4 mile track. He failed tech because his door handles were shaved.
