Get this paint BS....

My car is making me sell it. When I got this car the paint was peeling off of the front bumper so I took all the paint off myself and had this place paint it. A few months later the same thing again. So I go to him and say dude, your paint job is coming off. So he agrees to do it all himself this time for free. I thought maybe the flex additive wasn't being mixed right or something. So he paints it and now its doing the same thing again!! I can't afford to keep painting it every few months and he said if it does it again he will not repaint it again. So I want to sell it before it does it even more, its not that noticable right now, maybe the buyer won't notice, but its going to keep cracking and peeling, I'll let the next owner do this stuff. What is this??

Your gonna sell your car over the peeling bumper paint! Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now.

None of my painted f-bodies have had any flex addative in the paint, and none chipped, flaked, peeled or spiderwebbed. My 86 had 3 year-old paint on it when I sold it and the bumpers were perfect. My IROC's paint is almost 2 years old now and looks perfect and my GTA, well, that paint is only about a week old.

I consider flex addative a waste of time. If you tap something, it's going to spiderweb no matter what, and if you don't hit something, you shouldn't have any problems. I don't know if it's just that the urethane paints are more flexible or what, but we've never had a problem with it chipping off, even when they are hit.

Really?? It would have been good if some1 told me to tell them what to do before I got the free paint job!! It cracks when touched or hit and it cracks when not, so I don't know. I don't think I really want to sell it, but I'm going to have to. I can't keep paying for paint jobs, even if the next 1 was done correctly I can't afford it, the 1st 1 was around $260 and thats with me taking the paint off of it myself.

Flex additive also slightly changes the shade of the paint. I never used it when painting. The color always matched better without using it.

Maybe it's a problem with the adhesion of the paint. Like the primer. What are they using under the paint.

I don't know, the bumper was 1st painted by Maaco and then another paint shop 2 times and its still doing the same thing, it sucks.
