i was just wondering if anybody had done anything neat to color up the interior. i like the all black just fine but i was looking for anything suttle to put some color in there. about the only thing not black in my car is the CD head unit which is from humount.com it just an aluminum plate with IROC-Z cut into it and its lit by red LED's its really nice but i was just looking for something else i could just paint myself. but i cant personally find anything i could paint that wouldnt look really bad.

are you looking to only paint? or would you do stitching or something else
i dont know how good i would be at stitching but i think i would be willing to try if all else fails i can just pull the threads back out if i suck. and i def think im gonna try painting the cluster, that was something i never thought of.

It's really hard to really color things on our interiors without it looking rice'y or tacky. The gauge bezel is a good idea, though.

it might be too meticulous (i thought about it but wont do it) if you have the door panels with the vertical pads, doing the stitching in a color (red)
maybe put a leather pad on the armrests on the doors. or cover the whole armrest in leather.
on the sides of the console, instead of carpet, put vinyl or leather.

My car is teal green, so a green theme here....
I have the armrests with the indent from the top all the way along the armrest ... I got a 3/8" ribbon colored same as the exterior and glued it into the indent on the armrest.

I have green LED's that light the floorboards in the front, stuck under the lower dash panel - don't see the LED strips, just the green glow.
I have green LED windshield washer nozzles, mounted on the rear corners of the center console, so again, shines down - don't see the LED, just the glow.
I have a green license plate bolt mounted inside the center console in the hole that was supposed to have the adjuster for the center console clock, so that at night I can see what's inside the center console.
I took a piece of modelers plywood and cut out a Chevy bowtie, then drilled a small hole in each corner all around, and painted with black textured paint. I used a 5ft piece of EL Wire, weaved it in and out of the holes drilled all around until the bowtie shape was lit with the green EL wire, and this is on my rear shelf that my subs are mounted in:

The subs are 10", but the grills are 12", and I got a shiny green fabric and glued it to the inside of the grills. The EL Wire is connected to my amp power on, so it glows anytime the amp is on.
I also always drive with left hand, hold shifter with right (even though I'm automatic, just my driving style. So I always have arm rested on center console lid. I always hated the sweaty/sticky feel, especially in summer. I found teal green towels, bought the handtowel size, and cut to cover the top of console lid. Then I sewed thin black stretchy fabric to the backside, so that it makes a sleeve open at both ends. I slide this over the opened console lid, and close the console - now I have a nice soft cotton cloth covering my console lid to rest my arm on. And it's washable, and slips easily on/off for shows or to clean it.
Oh - I also have a center console clock, mounted in a project box from Radio Shack, that I painted with black texture paint (looks like OEM dash plastic now). I removed the 194 bulb that normally illuminated the clock, and installed EL Wire that wraps around the clock face just under the lip of the hole in the project box - that way the clock face is illuminated completely the same all around the round face, with green of course, and is plenty bright at night without being too bright (the EL Wire makes a nice glowing light).
It's difficult to come up with things to tie interior and exterior together, especially for some colors like the teal green - everything is either too green or too blue in hue to match well (I imagine orange is dificult as well).
When I have the cash, I plan on having the 25th anniversary logo embroidered in my headrest area in the teal green. I also am saving for nice floor mats with the teal green embroidery, probably have the Camaro 3-stripe logo made with the CAMARO word in green under it.
I have found the correct green color in embroidery thread, and I have quite a bit of it saved. I've spent some of the winter learning hand stitching embroidery on my own, trying to come up with a good stitch pattern so that I can do some of my own little things here and there maybe. Its not easy - hard to see ahead well as far as what you will accomplish, and thus 30 stitches later you realize what you did won't look right, and you have to undo them and try again (and I'm certainly no craft expert).
Anytime I go anywhere at all, I'm always on the look out for a matching teal color in anything - plastics, fabrics, colored papers, thread, metals, toys ... anything at all that has a matching color - I buy one, take it home to see how well it matches, and if it's a good match, I'll buy alot of it to have, so that I have materials for various ideas that may come along.
*edit*
I should add, for anyone thinking of gluing fabrics like I did ... use the newer Superglue that is think (a gel) rather than the thin runny stuff - the runny stuff will soak right into the fabric and discolor it - I also use thicker fabric to avoid this, thin sheer stuff will soak up even the gel glue.

yea i painted the bezel red and it looks really nice i also fixed my trip gauge while i was in there after i found the link in the first link i got.
DRK, i had that exact problem, everthing i looked at that was possible to work on would make it look tuneriffic, and thats the last thing i want.
