Re: EMOTIONALLY, How valuable is your thirdgen?

i would never sell my camaro, even though one day soon it will be scrapped, im taking the vin off it, the car is too rusted to be fixable unfortunately. emotionally though, as of today im 18, and my camaro was the first car i ever sat foot in. when i was born my dad picked me up from that same car in 1993, so no matter how much is offered to me, i will never seel it or get rid of it in theory

You have to look at it like this: New car payment $550.oo x12= $6,600.oo Think of what you could do about your cars shortcomings (Slow and rough body.) with that money. Plus it's a better looking car than anything in the $550.oo/mo. range.

Thats the very sad thing about our cars. Rust eats them! I am very lucky that rust does not occur in AZ like it does almost everywhere else.

Re: EMOTIONALLY, How valuable is your thirdgen?

unfortunately, it was destined to happen regardless, no one buys a car and strips it down to check for rust. the factory undercoated and painted over water and salt because the car sat outside, so it was eaten from the inside out. and then when my dad lost the keys(that were stuck on the seat springs the whole time) it sat for a good 4 years and that didnt help either. and no matter how much i want to save it its way too extensive

That's the good thing about Arizona, no rust! My car only ha 50 thousand on it.
Very clean, but the down side, has a V6 in it. But I still love it!

My '90 RS started life as a maui blue 3.1L.

My '86 IROC has 53,000 orig miles. No sign of rust anywhere. I think I would lose it if I found one of mine had rusted out.

Re: EMOTIONALLY, How valuable is your thirdgen?

It was my first car that I bought from an old lady, the original owner, when I was 15. I'm now 17 and just starting to get into the project. The past two years have been spent on maintence. Its gonna be a fun project.

Pocket, I wouldve figured you would have a sentimental attatchment to yours, what with the swap, and all the work you have put into it. Would you buy another thirdgen with the cash?
