wasaga beach is the largest fresh water beach in ontario...thats why its the biggest party place around...last year (thanks to our govnmts new by law) i seen at least 10 women with no tops on...BOOBIES.. and it is getting better and better every year
Yeah well the US has South Beach.........lots of BOOBIES (as you put it).........altough i'm willing to bet that 75% of them i've seen are fake....but in the end WHO CARES......

What's the purpose of the front plate???? I can't seem to find out why......

front plates are not required here

Emissions depends on the area and where I am (middle of nowhere) no I dont have testing here

and as for the other two I am about 20 min from tussey mountain ski resort but a couple hours away from a beach all in all a decent place to live I guess

Front plate required (but don't use one)

emmisions - strict but their are small towns just outside of El Paso where inspections do not include emmissions test. Not only that, everyone in El paso is making a quick buck

beaches - this side of texas is a long beach leading from texas, through NM all the way up to Cali

Some more on PA,
Butler (25-45min north of the city, depends on traffic and how you drive, for me it is about 15 min!) No front plate, no emmisions, there is still a saftey, the beach is about 1-1 1/2 north, lake Erie (sp) and you can read about the snow.

I will nail two states:
Pennsylvania:
No front plates
Emission: Depends on area, Not in mine
Ski: Within 20 minutes, Blue Mountain Ski Area which has a vertical drop of 1,400 feet!!! Beach: Within 15 minutes!!!!
I live in the Pocono Mountains, We get a ****load of snow here and very cold in the winter.
2nd State: Wyoming
Front Plate Required
Emission: Very strict
Ski: Everywhere in the state!
Beach: Nope!!!
There are only 450,000 people in the entire state!!!
Does anyone care about Wyoming??

looks like no one has touched North Dakota yet . and you guys are probably sayin who gives a rats *** ! but I just moved here from Seattle and -

- front plates are required , but I have my washington ones on still and I throw my plate in the front window

- Emmissions - what are they ? most folks drive trucks in these parts so they are deisels, but no emmissions tests but you can't run just straight pipes n In washington state you do have to have emmissions tests every 2 years if you live in the puget sound area.

- beaches - are you kidding me? when we see water it's usually frozen around here

- Sking - you must be out of your mind, what they call mountains in ND are small hills in Seattle. but we have a ton of snow for yas , ya sure ya betcha ya !

Sorry to bring back an old post but Alabama wasn't included.

1. You don't have to have a front plate

2. Emissions BWHAHA we dont even have registration. Also up until 2 years ago you didn't even have to have insurance. I run a car with no cat, and sometimes open headers. If a cop says something about it he says "man I like them long tubes"

3. The beach pretty close, 3 hours from Montgomery (Center City) and if you want snow and skiing its about 3 hours also.

Thats covers them all. Not to mention I can get to over 12 diffrent 1/4 drag strips in less than 2 hours, and Atlanta is 2 hours away. The taxes for Alabama is the cheapest. Example annual tax for home owners in Elmore county is $100.

Heart of Dixie. Haven of the car guy. Alabama the beautiful. Sure there's no professional sports in the state who needs um right? We have Alabama and Auburn j/k!

Arizona:

No plate

We have Emissions, however and any other Az guys correct me if I'm wrong here.. The only two counties requiring emissions are Maricopa and Pima. Anywhere else does not require.

Closest beach is Rocky Point, MX - about a 3.5 hr drive from Phoenix. I don't know what the other guy drives down there to take him 6 hours but hey.. maybe he does some sight seeing,

Ski Resorts - All within 4 hours from Phoenix. 2 hours North to Flagstaff.. 3.5 hours East to Apache Sunrise on NM border .. and about an hour to Mt Lemmon closer to Tucson (never open but still there)

Welcome to Brooklyn.

a)Have to put a license plate on the front of the car?
Yes and i have the ticket to prove it. I tried to get away with it when I got my new nose. I also got harrased at every tunnel.

b)Have to pass emissions? If so, how picky?
Yes. Sniffer and some places have the roller. I even failed because my tires were worn down. $35 for the inspection or $100 for the sticker

c)Is there a ski resort or beach within a 3 hour drive?
Yes to both. Whats the point on this one?

no emmissions
no inspections
no front plate
registration stickers go on plate.. nothing is on windshield.

skiiing? well theres a whole ocean, tidal creeks, 2 rivers and some lakes to water skii in... but lets put it this way... its january 21st, and i drove to work this morning with the top down... all i needed was a light jacket, and i didnt have it zipped up.

the beach is about 2 mins from here.... 10 if you walk slow.

the weather is pretty nice all year round, and unlike kansas twisters, we know when a hurricane is coming days in advance. myrtle beach is about 2 hours from here, and like someone said, its considered to be one of the best beaches on the east coast..

South Carolina here.

front plate: no
emmissions: haha havent ever heard of them
beach: about 1.5 to Charleston, more if you want to go to Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head or Edisto or something.
ski: few hours to get to the mountains in North Carolina...we used to go to one called Sugar something.

Otherwise weather is warm (drove to work with the windows down today), cars dont seem to rust, and I see lots of thirdgens around.

I live in San Diego, California -
A - Yes, but in the front window will do.
B - Yes, and They are VERY PICKY.
C - Ski resort - about 2 hours away (Big Bear) Beach is about 15 minutes from where I live. Of course I have about 100 miles of coastline to go to, so whichever you choose.

I love living in cali.

Montana:

I've heard front plates are required, but rarely enforced unless the cop just wants to pull you over for some reason.

Emissions are completely non-existant. :lala: You can run your exhaust straight out the hood and you'd only get in trouble for "noise pollution".

Yes, theres ski resorts within 15 minutes of me. Plenty more nicer ones all over the state, a couple hours away.

Also, another note about Montana:

You can get a full unrestricted license at 15, instead of 16. There's no stupid rules about driving after dark or with 2 or more friends or any of that BS. ^_^

Also, you can avoid any curfew laws as long as you're in you're vehicle.

like to add, closest thing to a beach is at the lakes, not really a beach though, after that you can go to seattle, its only an eight hour drive, and a crappy beach

there is a legal sound limit here in missoula, but its at 110 db after 11 pm, nothing to get worried about, and they will never stopp you for it

A guy I used to work with got pulled over for his bike being too loud, last summer. He didn't get a ticket, just a warning and he had to change the pipes.

NO SNOW, except maybe 3 inches every coulple of years so no rust.

To add to it plenty of mountains which means mountain roads :-)

Plate has to be on the front, but u can toss it in ur window, and if u get pulled over they always say "Just checking"

P.S. I HIGHLY doubt my car would ever pass emmisions

Forgot about skiing, Ever hear of Whistler, Or Mount Washington. Lets just say I can go there and make it back in time for work

South West Georgia or as it is called down here SOWEGA...

Front Plates - No but the big Red and Black "G" is encouraged...

Emissions Testing - NO!

Skiing? Sure - last time I went I almost drowned! - Actually you could get to snow in about 4.5 hours from here. BTW the temp was about 55F here today!!!!! Had the top down at lunch!

Beach - That's the best part. I can leave work and be in the water in three hours. That's to the Gulf Coast othewise known as the ******* Riviera. It is about 4 hours from here to the Atlantic coast.

I saw that there was at least one other GA post above but had to chime in. Georgia is the largest state east of the Miss River. It's about 3.5 hours from here to Atlanta and those folks up there would have about 6-8 hour ride to salt water, but only a little over an hour to get to snow skiing... And they do some emissions testing around Metro Atlanta (I think).

washington state:

My friend actually just called the DMV (or the DOL, can't remember) and they told him if the car doesn't have a factory bracket/body molding supplied in the front, then it is not needed, but she said it might be a good idea to call the PD to find out for sure, but he, and my dads bird have both never had problems (I've passed numerous cops in my dads formula with no problems)

Smog checker? Not where I'm at (kitsap county) but if you live in seattle or some of the other larger cities, good luck

Skiing? Oh yah, there are quite a few places within about 2 hours of where I live, more resorts a bit further away, but this state is full of em ( Whistler isn't far away )

cheers

Good cruising on Gratiot and Woodward( watch for Roseville cops on gratiot though)

Downside: Snow, salt, cold

Supposed to have front plate, but they really won't give you trouble if you don't have a plate holder (easily removed on thirdgens )

Only emissions down south near Portland. Supposed to visually inspect cats, but a lot of inspection stations don't even jack the car up.

Several good ski resorts within decent driving distance (Sunday River and Sugarloaf are the bigger ones, with smaller slopes scattered around)

Ocean and lakes very easily accessible from almost anywhere (lots of lakes and ponds, ocean's really too cold to swim in anyway brrrr)

Man... i was hopin to be the frist to represent Maine! Anyways... SUPPOSED to have front plate... haven't had one for 2 years and never been given an trouble for not having one... no emmissions other than a visual inspection for a "cat". and sking and beaches?? umm.. for me, 20-30 minutes to severall different mountains for skiing, and Old Orchard Beach is just down the road... ocean is almost always too cold, like Quadgoat said, but lakes are always nice.

Quadgoat, where you located? I'm originally from Waldoboro, but going to School in Portland.

Well in Anchorage, Ak

a) yes you need a front plate
b) If you drive the car all year around then you need I/M(very strict)
c) 2 ski resorts 45 min away and beach is 20 min, but the water is COLD! Still nice to hang out on a hot day. Plus you have a perfect view of the largest mountain in North America.

Not sure how this ended up in "Auto Detailing and Appearance", but I'm from Maine.

I talked to my mechanic today and he says within 2 years all cars must be emissions-compliant. Can anyone else verify/refute this? I just took out my smog pump and brought it over to him for some body work + paint, and this is what elicited his comment.

Thanks!

Every two years for me at least. North RI.--Lemme add If youve spent more then 400 on emmisions you can waiver emmissions.(if youve bought a performance exhaust im guessing youd pass)

Ocean is like 45 min Id say away from me. Scarborough. Though Ive never driven there myself. We got tons of lakes. Dunno about ski resorts. Dont care.

NO front liscense plate

Emissions: If your car is running good you should pass, If you are worried or dont have exhaust something like that, just register in prescott which is about 1hr 15 min away...you dont have any emissions to deal with

Beach in San Diego takes me 5.5 hours to get there, and Rocky point like said before is proly about the same bu i never been there. Snow...hah WHAT SNOW, it snows like 1 time a year around here lolj/k up north we have a lil proly 2.5 hours away...

Need a front license plate, however putting it on the dash is just as good.

Emissions needs to be passed, depends on city of how harsh. In San antonio no smogger, just need the basics. Houston and Dallas are smog ****'s.

Corpus christi baby!

1)Yes front plate
2)Emissions only surrounding Cleveland and Cincinnatti. I think it's a dyno sniffer, no visual?
3)We have a beach, but you don't want anything to do with that.
4)It's been known to snow anytime between October and April. Have fun.
