Got -more- of a shine!

I had spray-paint-patched a bad door scrape a while ago, and never had time to blend it in. I bought some 1500 grit paper, and wetsanded it this weekend. I also wet-sanded the area around it. Then I used my current waxing system that gives my paint some shine (Meguiar's crystal system steps 1 (cleaner) & 2 (polish), then Meguiar's "Swirl Remover 2.0", then the crystal system wax)- wow! The scratches from the 1500 grit were gone, and the paint in the sanded area is more "metallic" & shiny than the rest of the door.

I also tried wet-sanding (w/1500) the driver's side view mirror, just for kicks. It came out damn good! I think this weekend, I'll pick up some 2000 grit paper, and try a section of the hood.

I'm posting this 'cause some guys told me absolutely NOT to sand my paint a few months ago... I'm not saying they were wrong, but I didn't get any drastic damage from doing it, and got great results. I used the 1500 paper on a piece of wood so as not to leave any finger marks on the paint.

one thing to watch tho is that the single coat maaco crap is REALLY thin.....you can very easily sand right through it.
