Well guys, I've been talking about this car for a few months and some of you know about my 88 TBI car. I came into possession of this beast back in May and I've been cleaning her up since then. Now I feel it's time to show her to the world. So without further ado I bring to you my latest aqusition. The L9H8.........

The car looks great man! I really like how clean the engine looks with the low mount accesory drive brackets, and no a/c. Hurry up and clean up the chin spoiler, cause that looks like a nasty primer job LOL! Drinking... haha

Car looks great. Are those the stock fogged-over parking lights ? If so you can look at a set of these.= http://www.1aauto.com/1A/HeadLights/...PP00008/271776
If your interested in seeing them installed here's a link = https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...r-parking.html

Looking nice! Engine (as well as the whole car) looks very clean, but from your other post I am guessing that you probably have some pretty big plans for an overhaul... just don't make it faster than your '88! lol

Well my plans are just making the car a "fun" cruiser. I have my hot rod, lol. My short term goals are just refreshing up the powertrain with some mild upgrades. I'd like to get another set of unmolested ZZ4 Heads I can port or a set of LT1 "heavy" aluminum heads, not the later "lightened" ones and convert them over for SBC use. I either want to port the stock intake and add some bigger runners or if I can find one for a good price a stealth ram would be awesome. Transmission wise i'd like to just freshen it up with a good "mild performance" upgrade with a 2000-2600rpm stall ( i'm in love with the 3200 in the 88,lol). I haven't decided whether I'm going to use a production LT4 cam or go a touch larger with the ZZ4 cam (again I love it in the ZZ5.0) I really don't want to go crazy with this car like I did with the 88. It's keeping almost all of it's comforts like the interior, heat and radio. I'm r3dneck I don't need AC,lol. The most money will be spent on suspension and handling. That I will go crazy on.

It's a stock 3:23 posi car but the upgrade to 3:42 will be in probably by next month, I already have a set of richmond gears I've been sitting on for 6 years, lol. Luckily most of everything I've done to this car I've either had already in the garage or I was able to sell some of my parts that I've collected over the years to pay for the little I've done to this.

I built the exhaust myself, I have a thread in the exhaust section that I need to update. I think in the whole exhaust I have about $500 from headers all the way back to the muffler. I already had a set of Eibach Prokits sitting on my shelf in the garage so that was a no brainer. I would use the Transgo kit I have sitting on my shelf but I don't see the point as I believe the transmission needs to be rebuilt anyway. I have a stock SMC hood that needs alittle love but it's still useable, I'd like to modify it so I can use the stock blisters for a stock appearance.

For the wheels and tires i already had my Snypers from the grey car but I reused my polished GTA's on it so the Snypers got moved to the 91. I was VERY reluctant at first but I'm glad I put these on this car, it looks great.

Re: The New Bruiser!!! 91 L9H8!!!
You can polish your parking lights out to a like new shine in a matter of 10 minutes if you want to. 3m makes a kit if you want to get power tools involved (needs a drill), and it costs $15.

Re: The New Bruiser!!! 91 L9H8!!!
You sound as if you know what your doing so this may be unnecessary but have you used the Richmond Gears before. The only reason I ask is that a friend of mine is hating the whine that came with them in his new install. He lives up north so I had to go to Youtube to get a idea as to what they sound like.I was surprised. I like to only hear my engine and exhaust so a constant whine in my ear even slightly would drive me crazy.

Re: The New Bruiser!!! 91 L9H8!!!
I haven't heard the whine from richmond gears before but I have heard about people saying that they do. If it's any louder than the damn 80 series I just put on the car I would be amazed, lol. The blasted thing is so "bassy" that it rattles my ear drums.

Re: The New Bruiser!!! 91 L9H8!!!
No disrespect intended but "IMO" thous are still way off from the ones shown below.I'm all for restoring stock but I have yet to see a badly fogged set "really" pop .I have spent a small fortune on my car and then not changing the parking lights because of a $80.00 purchase for one of the most important pieces one the front of the car I just could not do.And talk about getting way off the "stock" path concerning the parking lights just take a look at the 'Cristal" ones there selling on E-bay and running on some of the nicest cars I have ever seen.I don't care for them my self but to each there own.

Re: The New Bruiser!!! 91 L9H8!!!
so why did you take off the dual tpi filters for a single cone k&N also, isnt the maf sensor in the cone, did you get rid of that also, just wondering?

Always wondered ronus, for such a beautiful paint job everywhere else, why is the chin spoiler the only thing needing fresh paint?

What Mr.Blaze said is true, it's a MAP car so no need for the sensor. I got the single cone to help clean up the engine bay more. I've been running an open element on my TBI for years with no ill effect so I thought it fitting to do the same with this one.

Re: The New Bruiser!!! 91 L9H8!!!
Well the PS and pullies are March but the ALT side I made myself by copying the March bracket on my 88. The most expensive part of the swap was buying a new crank pulley and the tensioner for the alternator. Other than that All it is is a spare piece of half inch aluminum, some cheap grade 8 6 inch bolts from true value and some 3/8's washers from walmart.
