Finally, Pics of my "Ladies" 66 Impala, 88 Camaro
finally I got some pics of my '88 Camaro and my '66 Impala together. Yesterday, with the aide of my father, we put in a new master cylinder (single cylinder :eek) and bled the brakes so it would finally have brakes, tossed the corvette rims back on, washed it, put the seats back in, and took it for a spin. What a feeling, I thought I'd never get to feel what it's like to be in that car on the road. 2 issues came up though. it runs like crap and a new motor is needed before it'll be safe and reliable to drive. and the 35 year old, stock from the FACTORY suspension needs about every component replaced, as it felt like we were driving on square tires. i'm so happy this father-son project is finally rolling after 2 years of the car just sitting in the corner of the garage.
the impala has 74,326 miles on it, has no rust and is completely stock. we have all trim for it, but I've taken most of it off, that's why it's not on the car. black 2 door hardtop, 283, 3 on the tree, dealer AC.
anyway, since this is the appearance board, how do the cars look?

yeah, i was going through the impala today, and there literally isn't a panel in the interior that doesn't need to be reupholstered. you can see some bondo/body filler on the hood, and the panel in front of it, and that's really the ONLY part that couldn't be popped out. there are a few dents here and there, but nothing really noticable, it's straight as an arrow. new paint, new motor, new interior and it's done. all fairly major things. but I could stick in a 4-bolt 350 short block and the motor is taken care of. $1,100 for a whole interior kit. and my dad had some guy paint our old '81 camaro for under $2000, and it was darn near flawless, and maybe the guy he knows would do it again. I'm thinking of dark red ghost flames..... ooooohhhhhhh yeah...
what I'd do for @ least a LT1 and a T56 for the impala.
I've fallen in love with the impala, though, my father and I almost got a 71 1/2 RS/SS Camaro instead of the impala. only problem was, it was $5000 and all it needed was a new nose (it was a split bumper)
take a guess @ how much the impala cost (texas car)
$640

1966 Impala Sport Coupe - F41, yes it has a sway bar.

That Impala is one sweet car! My friends is building a white 66 2 door post car and he has all the heater delete plates and everything. It is going to have the dog dish hubcaps and everything. It will be the ultimate sleeper. He is dropping in a 425HP 427CID That motor was supposed to be under rated because of the insurnace companies and the books say it is more into the 500 HP range. I LOVE BIG CHEVY'S!!!
i love it too, only prob is, It'll never be fast w/ as much as it weighs (4200 lbs) I want it to be halfway in between. I can't put in a factory console because of the dealer AC, but if I had it my way (and I had an endless supply of money) I'd have some type of motor (prolly BB) that'll make a ton of torque to get the beast movin' have 17" TT2's, keep all outside trim on, and paint the painted part of the trim that is white, Red. 2 1/2" cowl induction hood, 3rd or 4th gen Trans Am buckets, & least a 5 speed on the floor with a custom built console. And a stock "looking" radio from Danchuk or somewhere like that where they sell radios that fit into the factory radio cutout, with a changer in the trunk, and of course SUBs. The interior is "Fawn" and it can stay that way since it's a nice color.
other musts are :
tilt/teloscopic steering column
smaller steering wheel
Disc brake conversion on the front.
and stiffer springs so it can handle (though it does have the F41 sus. w/ a rear sway bar)
it's gonna take a long time because I'm young, but man oh man will it be awesome.
