Can anyone tell me how to buff white fog out of the surface of clearcoat?

My son runs the detail shop at the local Ford Dealer. He said the only way to do it right is to have a detail shop look at it. They will have to use a specific buffing compound and a buffing wheel. He also said to make sure its a GOOD detail shop with a lot of buffing experience, otherwise they can easily burn thru the paint with the wrong compound or a poor buffing man.

check the local auto store, they have all sorts of stuff that is "supposed" to remove oxidation and stuff. like turtle wax color shine, might help some.

today I used Meguires Professional Swirl Remover 2.0 and let me just say, that stuff is amazing. My whole hood was clouded over. now, after using that, polish, and Turtle Wax Emerald Series liquid wax, my hood looks like it was just painted. Im anxious to see how long it will stay that way, but it does wonders for the overall appearance of the car. oh yeah, except for the wax, we used a power buffer for the polish (however you spell it)

Yea ... I can get mine to look really, really good with polish then wax. It always returns to crap, though. I guess the only permanent fix is to repaint.

your best bet would be to go to your local auto paint supply shop and ask them. They can offer you tips and suggest which products would work best.
On the other hand if the paint underneath is still in good condition you can always sand the clearcoat off and have a new clear sprayed on. Just be carefull not to sand through your basecoat. You'll know once you hit the basecoat because the color of your paint will be on the paper instead of the white powder you get from sanding the clear.
