I bought the fake projector housings (black) and i just got done installin them and they immediately started fogging up.
The housing itself also got very hot.
Im running the bulbs they provided (h4s)
Is there any solution to this or did i just blow 50$?

John, did you and santiaga get the front struts on?
The reason their fogging up is because its humid where we live. The heat from the bulbs are gonna cause the moisture in the air to condensate to the glass lense.
Like a can of beer you drink on a hot summer day
I say you blow the $50 to get my poly mounts put on.

So youre saying these housings wont work for anyone who lives in humid places?
if they are fogging there is either excessive moisture in the housing (assuming its sealed) or the housing isn't sealed and humid air is getting in through the leak. take the bulb out, dry the housing (blow dryer or similar), and replace the bulb insuring a good seal. if that doesn't work there is probably a leak somewhere you'll have to find. for $50, I'm betting they are not sealed well

So youre saying i should seal up the edges of where the glass meets the
housing with silicone maybe? And the bulb area?
I was thinkin about drilling a hole somewhere instead would that just make it worse?

what is it with you wanting to use silicone o everything, John? haha
yeah use CLEAR or BALCk, not the red copper based kind you use. Also, where the socket where th bulb goes into. make sure thats sealed too.
and no drilling holes. the moisture will blow up the bulb if it hasnt happened yet.

I have the same fakes, mine don't fog up but they are entirely useless as far as focusing light.
If your interested in something with a little more quality, I've done my research on these and they are supposed to seal and focus very well- http://www.ebay.com/itm/165mm-H4656-...sories&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the suggestion
Do u run the bulbs that came with the housings?
Heres what i have, they have an extra "city light" in the back im sure that didnt help seal any better...

how ever you want to do it really, as long as its a airtight seal in the end. I'm not sure of how they are constructed exactly so it's hard to say what the best method is. I would use black and clear (as said) silicone, or if you have some fab skill take them apart and use a permanent epoxy of some kind and essentially remake the housings making them nicer and air tightOriginally Posted by J0hn_J0hn08

A hole would kinda fix the problem if its big enough and allows enough air flow/exchange with external air, but in certain situations I imagine you would still have issues, along with what faster said about bulb damage, plus your lenses would get dirty from road grime.
EDIT - I bet that rivet leaks big time

i had the same problem on another car i had, aftermarket lenses. siliconed the edge where the "glass" meets the housing. no more foggies.

The HID setup works awesome, but its like trying to use a flashlight without the reflector. It just kind of glows, no light focusing at all. Right now they're aimed very low too, so it doesn't blind anybody.

If you did, and you have any trouble with the ballasts igniting both bulbs or whatever let me know, because I had to dig up some info and wound up swapping some pins in the socket to make it work properly.
I'm always glad to help others bud, no prob. Post up some info on the new ones when you get em' and we'll call it even haha

Hey guys to my surprise the euro housings arrived today, shipping was very fast.
Right off the bat i can say that these housings are far superior to the other fake projector housings. Tried them out and no fogging at all.
They feel very solid and well made heres a few pics.

What you want to do is install a set of these adapters into your euro housings. These "help" reduce the amount of light that is cast onto the bottom of the housing. You will never get a clean cut line unless you use true HID projector housings. I am running these adapters on my euro glass housings and they put out a ton of light, but do not blind oncoming traffic. Once the 4300K bulbs warm up, it looks only mildly whiter than halogen so as not to attract attention.

These can also be found on ebay.
I have a youtube video of my headlights on my site, follow the link below.

Are you kidding me? That is awesome!
This whole time I've been feeling guilty about my lights being too bright so I've been having them face down. This is great, I will def get these something is better than nothing!
Thanks for info!

I have the same autopal housings in my blazer with 6k hid's. My Hi/low bixenon hid's came with a cover like the one posted above already on the bulbs, they are deffinatly needed! I tried running them without the cover, and they where all over the place.
Im also going to get a set for my third gen soon.

Unfortunately mine didn't come with anything like that. So at night I can see a big glare circle on the road which is annoying.
I went with 6k hids thinking they wer pure white but it has some blue in there that I don't like so I'm gonna try a lower k.

That has got to be the worst HID pattern I have ever seen. I guess that is what happens when you put HIDs in non-projector housings.
HIDs should have a very even output with distinct cutoffs. Should look like this.

Thank you for being so conscientious, I dont know how many times I've cursed someone putting HID's into non-originally equipped cars and then not adjust their aim. I once pulled over to let someone pass then drove a shortt while behind them with my high beams on to make a point. Was an older civic. Originally Posted by J0hn_J0hn08

Yeah, I'm a grumpy old man hehe! If it didn't happen so often I'd never have done that though. Seems to happen a lot in the 'Brampton' zone for those in the GTA area.
