attatching door molding
So - when i got my car painted, they took off all the door molding and threw it away. I've got some more, but now worrying about how to attatch it. I would presume that its supposed to go at the farthest out point on the door? The apex of the curve as it were? Its got old 'glue' on it, i'll have to take off, wondering what to use to RE-attatch it that won't damage the paint. Also, its white, so it'll have to be painted. I'm thinking doing body color (blue) but i think they were originally black. The car is blue with gold trip. The mirrors are body color, the door handles are black. What do you think? And do i need to primer them before i paint them?

Re: attatching door molding
If you mean that that go right along the bodyline, then yes. You'll want to use some 3M automotive double sided tape, I believe it was, to attach them after you've scraped off the old tape from the mouldings. And you'll want to scuff with red scotchbrite pad before you primer and paint them.
If they're the rounded type of mouldings (90-92) then I'd paint them body color, if they're the thinner square style (82-89) then I'd paint those black like they would've originally been.

That'd work, or you could try warming it with a hair dryer or a heat gun set to a fairly low temp and scrape it off with a bondo spreader or just try and roll it off. That tape is astonishingly tough.

Leave em off! Walk the extra 100 feet into Walmart to avoid the door dingers up front... if your like me, you could use the walk

Re: attatching door molding
well, i think all of us could use more exercise, but as this is my trip car, and will get parked in hotel parking lots, restertaunt parking lots, gas stations, etc, i really wanna get the door protection on! I'll have to see about trying the hair dryer, or maybe a blowtorch!

This sounds a bit odd but, If you have a dremel place a rounded eraser head on it. Just like the ones on the ends of pencils. I used a larger one that was rounded. It took all the garbage off without cutting into the paint. This also works well for pinstripe removal.
The below image is one you would want to use.
