Thats the way slicks are. The flexable sidewalls of the tires help with traction.

Also,I think,they are under inflated so that when they burnout or take off the tires don't pop when they expand from the heat generated.You ever see those top fuel dragsters rear tires go from fat to skinny?Well that's what happens with those tires in the above pictures only not as tall.

also i run 6 psi in my 32-15-15 slicks the side wall will flex and it will also put all fifteen inches of tread on the ground.
